My wife has watched all the Bay movies and enjoyed them for what they are. Dumb action movies with mostly good effects.

But she has zero interest in ever watching any animated version. And it's not like she hates animation or anything, although she doesn't watch much animation these days compared to when she was a teen or in her 20s. But there's nothing in any Transformers cartoon that is made for her.

 

Nah, I don't really know anyone that's into Transformers like I am. Not family, friends, co-workers, no one.  

 

All this, right here. The only difference is that I can count on something rare and TF related every Christmas. Botcon Diaclone two pack was one of the memorable ones. She'd be ecstatic if I sold the whole thing and never had another hobby at all.

 

Not as much as me, but yeah, she digs 'em.

It's not disrespect, it's a lack of understanding. To her, nostalgia and a need to collect/build something like either TFs or my Warhammer stuff is a foreign concept to her. She just doesn't get it. The closest she has to a hobby is baking, which she views as a way of relaxing. However, it's also something she intends to turn into a career, so I hardly would call it a hobby.

 

No she does not, she doesn't want to even see my stuff. My RC cars she doesn't mind but my bot collection she has issues with an I don't know why.

 

Mine tolerates my obession ....
She does buy me Transformers sometimes at birthdays or christmas and goes with me to watch the movies .

What G1Prowl said. I think many read too much into it when we say SOs/partners don't like the TF collecting.

I don't like my wife buying purses/bags (And those are A LOT MORE expensive than my TF hobby) but it is what it is. We respect each others interests. I don't have to like it and she doesn't have to like my TF hobby. I mean, if I was in heavy debt and buying TFs, yeah ok, she'd be pretty pissed and rightfully so. But we're not so we leave each other be.

 

Enjoy? Exactly the opposite. I think despise would be a more accurate term. She has flat out thrown stuff away. I've caught her trying to take back stuff I've bought. One of those times, it was something I bought with a gift card I received for Christmas from a family member. She has gotten mad at me for spending my own gift cards I received for Christmas/birthdays on things for myself. Like any toy collector, all I want for birthday/Christmas presents are toys. I haven't received a gift from her that was a toy of any kind in 7 years. Not one single toy.

 

They said their s/o's make fun of them insultingly couldn't be me.

Not at all. She likes calling me nerd (meant to be derogatory) whenever I watch anything sci fi, fantasy, or comic related, build Gundam models, etc.

 

Yep, she doesn't mind those big monsters, and I have a lot more RCs than Bots, so many that there in multiple rooms.

My GF has zero interest in Transformers. However, she doesn't have a problem with me liking or collecting them (as long as the collection stays in the living room display cases and in the game room; no overflow of bots into the bedroom).

I can relate on some levels with the getting mad about you spending your own money / gift cards . Its unfair .
