    Ebay:
well if they pay with paypal and want trackable and insured mail then the buyer should be protected against any scam.

So how does it work if the seller mails you a box with a brick in it? It's trackable and insured. How does Ebay and Paypal handle that? Who is responsible at that point? If no one is around when the buyer opens the box, it is then a he said/ she said. Does anyone know how Ebay/Paypal decide in those situations? Do they wash thier hands of the whole thing and say "it's a civil matter" at which point you are screwed unless you happen to live in Chile? I am just curious as to how the whole thing works?

Essentially, there's nothing "forcing" sellers to refund money. Ebay/Paypal (they are the same company) will basically pester the seller or, in some cases, will monitor the seller's account. If any money comes to their Paypal balance they will keep it for settlement.

Most of the time they side with the seller, in my experience. It does end up being a case of "he said, she said." In cases of extreme monetary amounts - like this - there may be more actions that can be taken legally.

Actually I've seen a few weird auctions go up, all from Chile, all around TF giftsets. One had two computrons and a Piranacon, and the other had a Piranacon, a Computron and a Menasor.

    Verrry fish.

It would be classified as an item received not as described case. Paypal would then take certain things into consideration when making a decision. Each case would have different circumstances, so it's hard to make a generalization for all cases.

The seller is not forced as they don't have a choice. Paypal will "take" the money from the sellers account. If the seller doesn't have sufficient funds, the sellers account will be at a negative, and paypal will pursue collection tactics to get their money from the seller.

Again, each case is different.....so things like the sellers & buyers paypal history are all taken into account when paypal makes a decision.

The bidder with 5 feedback bid yesterday. It was the bidder with 63 feedback that bid 24 times & last.

    Probably a scam either way!

    Ebay:
It was the last US giftset released, in 1988 if I recall. Only came with 5 of the Seacons, Nautilator was excluded for some reason.

On a side note, the current $6k price is $4k+ above my highest estimates, esp. since only the reissues are sealed.

I think it may be high too, BUT not too high, i see this selling for 4500 easy.

Piranacon and Defensor are pretty rare right there.
