I just snagged 10 WreckGars off eBay for my Junkion army. Payed about $5 over for each of them with S&H, but haven't been able to find them anywhere in Austin, or catch them on sale online before they are out of stock. Based on the shelve space available, think my 'armies' are going to have to remain in the 10 or so range for Wreck/Scourge (probably won't build an insecticon army per the G1 cartoon).

Were there any other huge group / army of transformers from the cartoons or comics?

I think fleet would be more appropriate in this case.

I'll see your SoloTransformerAssaultGROUP and raise you "One Man's Army:"

To answer the OP's question though, if you want to play the "Troop Building" game its best to just set your parameters however you want!

It's especially hard with TF's since they tend to be compartively expensive even for smaller figures, and you don't often have too many variants of class-type to really fill out your "armies" with officers, and sapecialty troops etc.

Scourge DOES have enough molds though at this point, that you could have say

United Scourge w/ Targetmaster as your Commander
BotCon Scourge as your 2nd Officer
BontCon Sweeps as your Elite Troopers
Generations Scourge as your Regular Troopers
Titanium Scourge as your low-level foot (wing?) soldiers.

Or any other wacky combination of figures given whatever titles and roles you like, the VISUAL effect of such a display is awesome though, with everyone sharing a single "Uniform" but enough variation in actual detail between the figures to really give a sense of a unified, yet diverse, fighting force.

    Fun fun stuff!

But unless you're planning on wargaming with your toys, don't sweat the details ;)

Well I think I can best answer this question with another question:

How many Cyclonuses do you need to have an armada?

    Cyclonus + 1...evidently

That scene screwed up SOOOOO many 80's kids understanding of the word "armada" for life... :lol

Personally, I have Cyclonus +2 BIS (actually 1 BIS and 1 CAC), plus once I round them out, he also gets to lead the targetmaster-jets with their trippy space-designs.

In my personal fanon, his "Armada" was always the Targetmaster dudes, just they weren't designed yet, so they got 1-placeholder-Cyclonus design and stayed mostly off screen ;)

Oh yeah! I'd love to have one as well, but I don't even have a single one to date. They are way too expensive now from what I'm seeing on eBay at least.

Yep. And that is Toxitron on there. Don't have everything lined up the way I want yet to show off my Radicon/Customs collection which is what hooked me on starting my own kitbashing project(s). Will definitely post them in the collections section once I have everything laid out / lighted properly.

An army is on the order of 80,000 to 200,000 troops. What you have is the equivalent of a squad or patrol.

I still don't hazve any Generations Scourge. Personally i'd army build with Titanium Scourge as they suck like Sweeps do. Scourge should be superior to his sweeps.

Why do you think the titanium sweeps suck? It has a solid paint job, snaps well together, and doesn't suffer from the weight problems with arms/legs falling off like some of the other Titaniums (WWI Optimus or JI Joe Megs anyone???). Actually one of the better Titaniums IMHO. Only issue is lack of articulation, but not sure how the articulation compares to the other Scourge versions.

Wanted it for display scene setup, but now that I have my shelves up, it's clear my Transformers out number my shelve space by at least 2x to one. :(
