Does this break the copyright of hasbro's licensed name "jetfire"? I saw it at the pharmacy. there s no space between "jet" and "fire".

Autobot Jetfire? Yes. The word "Jetfire"? No.

There are several companies named Jetfire by the by.

I doubt it, cheap thin-wood gliders sold at places like a pharmacy aren't likely to be confused with a giant transforming jet robot of various faction alignment sold by a toy company giant.

Could be a technical violation, however, even if its one thats not worth pursuing.

Hasbro could sue them but they'd only get $17 and some balsa wood.

I don't think it's a violation of anything, but if it were, it would not be copyright. It would be trademark.

Dunno for sure, but I think Gullow's glider might have the earlier claim on that name. Those things (or ones like them) have been around for-like-ever.

Probably too different to be a trademark conflict though.

I don't think Hasbro has trademarks in the area of "crappy pharmacy gliders."

It would be so awesome if the glider had a trademark filing with that exact description.

    1. Names can't be copyrighted.

    2. Names can be trademarked.

    3. This isn't a trademark violation either, as this product belongs to a different category than the ones Hasbro operates in. No direct competition.
