First off, it depends on the toy. If the toy looks like crap, I don't care if they make only 1 of them, I still don't want it.

Now, if its a toy I want, damn straight I want it more, just so I know I get it. I got burned badly on both on the Crossfire Snowman Superion addon and now Shadow Scyther, so yes, it does have an affect.

As for being disappointed, I would only be disappointed if I paid exclusive prices. For instance, if I paid (hypothetically) $1000 for a G2 classics mint on sprue Sideswipe with the understanding that there was only 50 or so made, I would damn well be pissed off if a month later Fun Publications decided to start mass producing them in the exact same form. I know some people were irritated with FansProject on the exclusive recolor of City Commander for that one convention that they ended up sort of redoing (but slightly differently) for overseas.

For some reason, a piece's rarity does make it more appealing to me...

Depends if I ended up getting screwed on the price.

It just annoys me because then I know right away some sweaty guy with an eBay account is going to be camped out in his mom's mini-van at a TRU parking lot and I'm not going to find a Rodimus.

Perhaps, but really, anything that's at a TRU or a Target for that matter in some way shape or form is easy to get. There are multiple stores and you can go between them. The exclusives to me that are really "annoying" are the online ones, or convention exclusives. I'd love to have a SG Rodimus or Gentei Wildrider, but the circumstances of getting those are so crazy due to their exclusivity. Same thing with Shadow Scyther. It was 300 pieces limited to pretty much only 2 locations in extremely small numbers (and only one was US based at that).

I've been to five different Toys R' Us stores in this state and not one of them has an Ironhide or Rodimus.

when a toy i want is exclusive it makes me rage, you see, if it is target or TRU, that usually means i can't get it, since they are too far away, only wal-mart is reasonably reachable

yeah, i'm one of the few that truely missed out on classics magnus because i couldn't get it, not because i didn't want it

TRU exclusive means i am paying double price for a figure on ebay, i'm looking at you ironhide and ratchet

    and probably soon grimlock!

It depends on the type of exclusive. If it's an TRU, Target, or Walmart one I'm fine, but if it ends up being a Convention or TFCC Exclusive they end up being a disappointing turn of events 'cuz I know I'm not going to get it. ^^; I have paid some interesting prices for some figures, but in all honesty I can't really do that without setbacks. An example would be Gentei Wildrider. I'd adore having him, but I couldn't possibly pay the amounts that are asked for it. That said, most exclusives aren't really something I look forward to.

If a toy is truly exclusive, that means it should be considered a 1 of a kind or truly rare item.

All these mass release exclusive aren't exclusives at all. they are just mass release items w/ and exclsuve sticker slapped on it. as a marketing ploy to steal more of your hard earned cash. :)

Exclusivity doesn't make me want a toy more or less. It just changes the chances of me getting it or not.

I know it makes me want it more. I am one of those people that needs to have that kind of stuff.

I definitely got pissed when animated black convoy went from 300 to 100000000000000000. Or when mail away ravage was a $12 Tru exclusive.

QFT again. Unless it's a TRU exclusive that's NOT an Animated figure, since non-Animated exclusives always shelfwarm.
