I was just thinking about this, when Prime catches Sam from falling off the building he says, "I've got 'ya boy." and it sounded to me a lot like the way people talk to their dog.

Did it sound that way to anyone else, or was it just me?

megatron also calls sam "boy" the scene before prime does and megatron also says if he hands over the cube he might let him be his pet. i feel like prime called him boy in more of a fatherly/grandfathery type way...that was how i read it anyway.

Megatron hates humans so I could see how he can call sam "pet" or "boy". But I agree with puppylove that prime ment it more as a father-like way.

There goes my hope that in Transformers II Sam would be living at Prime's place complete with a water bowl that said "Sam" on it and everything.

On the second viewing, I picked up how Megatron and Prime both call Sam "boy" back to back; I love how Megatron uses it in a derogatory/condescending way, while Prime's delivery sounds caring/loving. It's great how two characters can use the exact same nickname, and it can come across completely different :)

Now that you all bring that up....Optimus called the teenagers "children". I think OP was talking like he was some kind of protector/father figure..

Didn't sound like that all. As a matter of fact it sounded kinda like gratitude mixed in with the voice you make when you catch something you didn't expect you would in time.

I didn't think it was done that way on purpose, I just thought it kind of "came out" that way.

Speaking of pets, I thought Prime mourned Jazz's death like he just caught him peeing on the carpet...

    "Oh, Jazz."

I think that's because Jazz has always been a scrapper, and they all knew he was eventually going to pick a fight he couldn't win. It was only a matter of time.

Prime was sad, but he wasn't surprised.
