I know he does come back but still, it feels like the real prime we knew and loved died and never came back.

I don't cry, but I remember crying over it whenever I watch it.

I never cried. I always thought it was so cool that my favorite show had the balls to do it. And be all gown up. I may not have used those words as a kid though

Never cried, but the heart misses a bit every time I watch the 86 movie.

Well, I started watching Transformers in Armada, and his death in that made me cry, but I think it also made me used to it, so when I saw it in the '86 movie, I didn't, and when it happened in ROTF I almost laughed.

The only time I cried about a TF death was BW Dinobot. Then almost cry when Animated Prowl died. When it comes to Prime, never even felt sad.

I'll admit I still get misty sometimes when I re-watch the 86 film.

The first time I watched the '86 movie, I bawled like a little girl when Prime died. It sounds so cliche but, Prime in a way, was more of a father to me than my father for the first decade or better of my life. Watching him fade to black was so heartcrushing for me.

I still get misty when I watch it. Every. Single. Time.

Never cried. In fact, I'm not sure I like that whole scene where everyone is around the table, prime goes dark (never understood that), matrix drops, etc.... Maybe it's because I was older or whatever, but I think BW dinobots death was much more heart-wrenching. I'm sure I was more annoyed at hot rod for causing the death.

Nah, Optimus wasn't my favorite character as a kid. That honor belonged to Megatron and he survived:D

Never cried when I saw it but my best friend did. I was more angry than sad. I wanted Megatron to die.

Well, I only saw his death in the '86 movie for the first time two months ago and it didn't make me cry...mostly because I didn't really know what was going on. And because I already knew that he sort-of comes back anyway at that point.

I did cry at his death in ROTF, though. *ducks and hides*

    Nope, not ever.

Dinobot's death made me tear up a bit.
Transmutate's death always sends shivers up my spine.
Tarantulus' death bummed me out all day.
Optimus Primal's death at the end of BW season 1 shocked me.

But no version of Optimus Prime's death has ever registered with me much.

Never cried, maybe because I came into G1 really damn late and viewed the movie only in '07.

    So, no.

i must be one sick little bastard, cause the first related g1 thing i ever saw was the movie, and when i got the masterpiece prime that christmas, when i played with my toys prime always died.....didn't help the second thing i saw was the return of optimus prime and in my games he died and came back to life like crazy haha

never made me cry, and it doesn't at all, the death of God Ginrai is sadder than the death of optimus prime

I'll admit I was shocked when Armada Prime died, since I was only a kid and I'd liked Optimus a whole lot. I think I even hugged my Optimus Prime figure, too, can't remember.

But when I watched Prime die in the original movie some years later, I didn't tear up a bit. Maybe it was because it seemed a bit off to me how G1 Prime died because of battle damage (when he'd nearly died in similar fashion at least once in the first season I think) and simply turned gray compared to Armada Prime getting blasted by a HUGE SPACE CANNON and visibly breaking apart into nothingness.

Movie Prime's death caught me by surprise (since I figured they'd play the "Prime dead/resurection" schtick in the third film for some reason), although I thought the manner of how it was done was pretty cool and totally something Megatron would do. I also had figured out Prime was going to come back by the end of the movie anyway since we all know how well Prime NOT coming back to life from the first movie went.
