Well, hope I dont get flamed or anything, but I got movie Ironhide (thats number 2 of my collection :D  ) and he kinda has that look from the TF alternators line.

Anyone else see that or am I just wrong? *shrug*

I see a similarity, mainly because of his size. The Alternators have more of a G1 feel to them though.

Ironhide has a lot more busy surface detailing on his robot parts... while Alternators go for a more basic "box" form... but the vehicle detailing is similar. Movie Ironhide is *dreamy*. :)

Hope I can find one soon.

I suppose so, on the outside. One of the features of the Alts is that they all have working doors and detailed interior, which none of the movie figures have. Here's hoping for a release of movie Alts!:drunk

IMO, his alt mode is like a tiny Alt, but he doesn't really fit well with them IMO in either mode. As a Topkick, he is supposed to be MASSIVE, much bigger then even the Dodge Ram Alt mold. But side by side, he looks real tiny. And his bot mode isn't even close to looking like an Alt, as nice as it is.

Nope. I see Ironhide and the rest of the movie cast as RiD 2.0. RiD is the only existing series these toys mesh well with. This would be fine if they were all new characters, but since most of these are meant to be the G1 cast, they fail.

I don't see it as an alternator since he doesn't really pull off the illusion of being a toy truck as well as an alternator/binaltech would (though still pretty good). But that doesn't mean it's bad. Ironhide, along with Leader Prime, is my favorite of the line so far.

And maybe I'm crazy, but I feel the movie people have been very true to G1. Ironhide is the grizzled veteran who was one of Optimus' most trusted, and toughest, soldiers. The fact that he's a black truck instead of a red soccer mom van is practically irrelevant. They got it right.

I think so too, but he's too small to really fit in with the Altinators. I bought him because he looks evil as hell, and will make a fine body guard for Nemesis Prime! MWHAHAHAa!!!

A custom Topkick is rather unusual for the Alternators line. Especially with 2 giant cannons under the running boards.

I could see similarities, but they get washed by the lack of auto detail: non-reflective mirrors, plastic tires (I really wish they were rubber), no clear/reflective head/brekae lights, no engine detailing, no opening doors/hood/trunk, no rack and pinion steering/suspension, etc. I think these are the things are really what makes the Alternators line stand out.

That said Ironhide is a pretty neat, and well detailed toy.

No. Ironhide is MORE interesting than an Alternator.

Except he doesn't have those in the movie, but I guess it's the only way to have them stored.
