It bothers me. Dont know why.

 

No dont bother me at all. Never seen a Japan series before as it was, so I'm used to either Primal or Prime.

 

Not bothered per se, but a bit disappointed by it. I actually liked a lot of Japanese names over their American counterparts.

 

I really like the name Convoy, even though we all know him as Optimus Prime.

 

I do like the Convoy name also but it doesn't bother me that much.

 

I prefer Prime, so it does not.

 

I like the Convoy name for the Japanese figures, but it just makes more marketing sense to use Optimus Prime. Optimus is a world-wide known franchise icon like Superman. Making use of that name just makes marketing sense so it doesn't bother me too much.

Not really. It's a neat name to say though.

 

Personally I don't care. Convoy is fare more overused than Prime (believe it or not) thanks to the Japanese naming anyone with a spark Convoy.
And while I like some of the Japanese names...their changing effects me 0%.
It is the Japaneses who should be upset....Like I would be if Optimus showed up in DotM and was suddenly called "Optimus Convoy".
Convoy is not MY tradition...call me when they try to ruin Transformers forever...

It's a little surprising to see the western naming conventions over-run Japan as much as they have, but I can't say it bothers me.

 

I dunno, Optimus Prime in Japanese sounds like Optitimus Primada.

It just doesn't sound right.

 

it does, it bothers me that cybertron and destron seems to be also leaving. That would be like hasbro scrapping autobots, decepticons, and optimus prime and changing them to the japanese names.

I'm hoping when we get past movie continuity, takaratomy sticks with the iconic japanese names, cause the reason autobot, decepticon, and optimus prime remained in the japanese dub of animated instead of getting changed was because over there, animated is in the movie continuity

 

It's not just Convoy, I was initially taken aback to find out the Japanese name Cha was dropped in favour of Kup.

To me personally, the only Convoy that I wouldn't want to be changed into Optimus Prime is Fire Convoy. Other ones I don't really care as I am equally familiar with their English and Japanese names.

For reissues and Masterpiece series, TakaraTomy don't intend to change "Convoy" that has nostalgic value/meaning to the Japanese fans, the same goes for any Japanese names. (Source> HyperHobby) I guess I should be happy with that. At least they won't reissue Big Convoy as "Mammoth Primal", if he ever gets reissued  

 

Transformers : United uses Optimus Prime and Bumblebee too.

 

There are much more 'important' things for us to expend our nerd rage upon.

 

It bothers me because now when I am trying to explain away buying too many toys to my wife I can't say "I bought an Optimus Prime and a Convoy"  

 

Nope. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

 

Personally I always loved to call Convoy when I mean a japanese version of him.... but times are changing, I've to convince my self
