I am not entirely certain. I've played through almost the entire single player WFC campaign. I had fun, but when I replay through on another difficulty setting I will get a sense of the pleasure of replay value.

So far I've felt that ROTF had great single player replay value. And I'm an old school gamer who values single player mode over multiplayer always.

The graphics of WFC are excellent, the controls solid and the themes (G1 inspired) are nearly perfect. However, I find the linear, almost Super Mario Bros style of platforming from position A to B to C somewhat too simplistic in nature.

The graphics of ROTF are decent, the controls are great for me (though I know lots of people hated those controls and responsiveness) and the themes are good enough as they were completely in line with the source material. I wish you didn't have to hold the button down to stay in ALT mode, that drives me crazy.

Bascially I found ROTF a bit more creative in terms of what the mission objectives are. WFC is a shoot, shoot and then shoot some more shoot-em-up shooter. In ROTF there were missions where you'd have to shut some transmitters down, track down humans and deliver them elsewhere, defend positions, activate things, acquire objects, escort missions, etc. etc. etc.

While WFC was more of a triumph with the old school G1 designs I can't help but wonder if the replay value would be upped with more dynamic mission objectives besides "shoot everything that moves." I have yet to experience multiplayer but what I've read it sounds like some pretty simple objectives.

    Thoughts?

I really wished there was more to the Single player. It could get very repetitive, luckily there would be some kind of boss battle or obstacle to race through to add a little something new but I definitely hope for a sequel it branches out a bit more

I deffinately prefer WFC, but I did have fun with ROTF while it was around.

Though in hindsight, that could just be because it was as close to good as TF games had come until WFC, which is genuinely fun and has a lot more merits.

I prefer the campaign mode of WFC much, much more. I found ROTF's single player to be extremely boring after a while.

I do still think ROTF's multiplayer was a lot of fun though, and there's certain aspects of it that I miss not having in the WFC multiplayer.

Overall though, I prefer WFC but I'm gonna vote that they both have plusses and minuses.

WFC superior, ROTF inferior. Soundwave has spoken!

ROTf had a lot more variety in mission structure and enemy encounters.

    WFC felt rushed to me {and very similar to unreal tournament 3, a multiplayer focused game with a bland campaign shoehorned onto it.}

I much prefer RotF's control scheme and multiplayer, but that control scheme wouldn't have worked for WFC so I can let that go. RotF's multiplayer had a more diverse cast of characters instead of WFC's cookiecutter classes. In fact, the characters that did share abilities usually were entirely different kinds of vehicles from one another.

A major factor for me, which I didn't even realize until I played the WFC demo is that the game taking place on Cybertron actually hurt my mental image of it as a Transformers game. Everything is scaled to them, so it's less a game about giant robots in disguise, and more just burly space marines who are also robot cars.

I loved ROTF and it's a keeper in my book. But WFC is better to me. Graphically and the cast is pretty close to a G1 game we'll get. But I'll be playing both games and these 2 games will never be sold. I can't wait to see what the 3rd movie game is like though.

I like both, but the ability to combine your transformations into your melee combat or use the speed and inertia from driving fast and turn that into a huge leap in robot mode just clinches the deal for me, so i prefer ROTF. That said i do love WFC....eh i dunno...they are both great!

I highly disagree. RotF was very repetitive campaign-wise. The missions are always either "Protect this", "Destroy these" and "Escort him" while re-using the same open areas.

While the gameplay for WfC is mostly the same throughout the campaign, the environments were all different, the objectives never repeated themselves and each chapter tried to vary the gameplay, such as riding the Cyberslugs, Fighting Trypticon mid-flight, Avoiding Omega Supreme on the highways, etc.

I don't see how that makes the game rushed at all. Especially when it took 2 years to develope.

I believe WFC's campaign was much better. Graphics, Story, Dialog, Bosses, everything.

I feel ROTF's multiplayer is more solid, though. Everybody starts and ends with the same abilities, weapons, etc. Makes it a little more fair those of with lives, wives, children, JOBS, etc. Deaths appear to make more sense in ROTF too. In WFC, I am coming up with kills that I would have never thought possible. AND, when I jump OVER a meleeing soldier....or any other class....I should NOT GET HIT. Plus, the reach of the melee is ridiculous. Using the fusion cannon with leader never seems to be solid. It almost looks like I am shooting right through my enemies. ROTF's bullet-to-body graphics/consistency is HUGE plus for me. It just seemed like if I was shooting an enemy across the map with Grindor, I knew I was doing damage. In WFC, the crosshairs are red (indicating impact), and I run up and melee. No death. They melee me once, Dead. Makes no sense. Plus, the freezing bullsh*t is really wearing thin on me.

I am still working through the WFC Multiplayer leveling system. Taking a while. I am playing for the awesome fun of transforming, shooting, killing, dying, strategy that WFC has to offer, but I still feel as though in 6 months, when I look at the two games, I would sooner put ROTF into the PS3 before WFC for the Multiplayer with friends. Just my initial thoughts right now.

I'm with Sideswipe80 for sure. I am VERY curious as to what TF3's game will entail, as well as the possible WFC sequel.

ROTF made for some great times here with good friends. Funny you mention the thing about the fusion cannon. I thought I was the only one having that issue.

Okay... this is a massive point of contention I omitted from my first post. What is with the tacked on melee attack in WFC? The ROTF melee attacks and how they were integrated into transforming (usually to robot from car)... awesome.

WFC is a shooter, the melee attack is only meant for hitting enemies that are close like in MW2, it's not meant to be a whole different form of attack.

i hated ROTF the game, i rented it for the PS3 and it pissed me off, holding the button to stay in vehicle mode is CRAP, i don't see how anyone can like that control scheme, the WFC one is much nicer....WFC is a WAY better game
