Does anyone miss the RoTF-style complexity?

I still love the ROTF line.... but DOTM molds such as Deluxe Starscream, Deluxe Ratchet and Voyager Megatron have proven ' simplified ' transformation process can go hand in hand with improved sculp detail, improved screen accurate proportions and improved articulation.

So, I don't insist on ROTF complexity necessarily anymore....

The days of ROTF? Wasn't that like 3 years ago? O_O Personally, I like stuff like Beast Wars/Machine Wars simplicity.

I think there needs to be a distinction between complexity and creativity.

ROTF Mixmaster's transformation is overly complicated and more of a chore. I think the robot mod suffers because of it.

On the other hand, DOTM Skyhammer and 2007 Blackout have just the right amount of complexity to keep things interesting but functional.

Not having transformed a Transformer from 1987 to 2011, I was a little intimidated by how complex the Movie Transformers were. It took me over an hour to change ROTF Leader Optimus into a truck. Once I started buying the Classics, they were much easier.

I like satisfying transformations - a high number of steps can do that and so can a smaller number where I just "don't see it coming".

I think some of teh PRiD DLX figure have the smaller but still satisfying thing down pretty well (Wheeljack, Cliff, Ratchet) and some are just dumb simple (Arcee, Bee)

Also, frustating and fiddly panel-formers aren't "complicated" or satisfying; they're just annnoying.

I can't say I miss it. I really liked the ROTF style line and the complexity of the transformations were fun, but I'm all about different flavors. I wouldn't want every toy on the shelves to be that complex. The Prime line has been dumbed down for quite a few figures, however there is a figure like PRID Optimus Prime that makes you think a little and I'm fine with that.

I'd certainly welcome back the ROTF style complexity down the line, just don't need it right now IMO.

Don't really miss it, but I did enjoy these transformations. Sentinel Prime, Mixmaster, ROTF Optimus can be very fun to transform. However, my favorite thing now is to find really clever transformations like Generations Warpath or Prime Wheeljack, when you finish the thing and say "wow, now this is a well designed figure". Many won't admit it but a lot of these advances in design and transformation tricks came with DOTM.

I don't really miss it because I find a lot of the DotM transformations just as satisfying.

MIxmaster, Leader Prime? Loved how complex they were. Then again, I'm the sort of person that learnt how to solve a rubiks cube for fun.

Dear Hasbro, please can we have a subline with more please.

There's enough variety in toy complexity now to keep me happy. Some are super-simple, some are more complex. So I'm fine. I don't miss RotF-style.

lol me, too. I was never able to get my best time under one minute, though. I should break out the cube again.
