a complete Loser when you buy a figure in a store or online?

I only ask this because when I look back on all the Transformers and God of War Figures and all of that stuff ive bought in the last past year and on top of all my bills,is I find that I feel like a loser im bassically working for hunks of plastic and Billls. I know its a hobby but I think mines going a lil to far.

Anyone else feel this way or am I the only one? :thumb

Nope. Everything material in life that anyone works for is just hunks of matter. What makes a difference is what those wads of matter mean to the people that want them. If you enjoy collecting figures, then you're not working for lumps of plastic, you're working for the moments of happiness you spend collecting/admiring/posing them etc.

I agree. Some people like to throw their money away on sports-related stuff, their cars, jewelry. I think putting money into things like that is a tremendous stupid waste, but if it makes them happy, that's what they need to do.

What makes us happy is just a different form of that.

The other day I found 4 of the Comic book hero figures I have been looking for and I admit standing in line did make me a little embarrassed especially cause I did not have a cart and had to hold them pretty awkwardly, but hey who cares right if it makes us happy then more power to us.

Sometimes I feel a little wierd walking up to a register with a $40-$50 toy, especially if its a hot cashier. It doesn't stop me however, so no big deal.

When I see how much most of my friends spend on beer at the bar, I actually feel good about my money going to Transformers. At the end of the day I have something to show for it.

I so don't give a shit, hell, everyone I know knows I collect, and many of them marvel over my collection pictures when I show them. I have never felt like a loser because of it in the least.

Think about how much smokers spend a month on cigarettes.

Nope, Ill feel its an investment and there's 2 things I can choose to do with them: 1. If I ever have money problems, theyll give me some breathing room and 2. If my kids enjoy them, maybe Ill pass on the collection and tradition to them

Collecting them is definitely like an addiction, without all the cancer side effects.

I purposely go to the hot cashier. usually they talk about whatever it is you have. Ot at least they do to me. And the best part is when they ask if you need a gift recipt and you can proudly say "Nope!"

The only one who does that to me is my wife. :(  She always makes sarcastic coments about who else would ever put up with my stuff. One day I'll have to find out :D
