Reasonably entertaining and bonus points for the Spinal Tap reference, seems like the series has improved its consistancy again this year going on what we've seen so far. Martha's family didn't make we want to throw things at the TV either, which is a definate improvement on Troutface's supporting cast.

Some of the stuff in the multi-episode preview at the end looked good, particularly the bits that looked like another Impossible Planet style space episode. Unfortunatly its off next week for the poxy Eurovision Song Contest, which even Wogan's piss taking can't make entertaining.

I think Tennant handled the slap scene much better than his predecessor

What I found interesting was Mr Saxon's full name - Harold Saxon. That has to be an alias, as Harold was the king of the Saxons, and if my theory is right, then he is someone who has a past with that particular king and conflict.

The monster was pretty cool, in fact I enjoyed the whole premise. Annoyed a lot by the fact it's off the air next week though, that knocks the airdates back by a week, meaning the season finale is going to air when I'm at Botcon instead of the weekend before. Why the BBC couldn't put it on BBC2 for one week instead I'll never know.

I reckon because they don't want to take the viewership away from the eurovision song contest, and they think it being shown earlier would result in less viewers.

I didn't think Simm could look menacing... but I guess I was wrong.

Good episode overall, the monster was pretty cool, but the human face was way too creepy.

Harold Saxon? Who is he, What is he? Is this who the face of Boe was talking about?

Cant wait for next episode, Cap'n Jack is back!

    Stupid Eurovision

    David Tennant > Terry Wogan.

I don't think Jack shows up until the back end (no pun intended) of the series, the trailer was for the rest of it in general rather then just the next episode.

Well, that explains why the trailer looked so jumbled, then.

According to the Doctor Who magazine, John Barrowman is only credited for episodes 11 through 13. So he'll probably only show for those episodes.

Freema Agyeman was as fancible as ever (36 and I've got a 'TV crush' again... sad sad sad little me).
I'm afraid that's the only positive element for me: I'm only watching for my 'Martha fix'.

I think the whole Rani thing was just a rumour, and has been denied by official sources.

As for Saxon... well, I can't be sure yet. I've heard two rumours, one more believable than the other (or maybe I just hope that)

It was better then I'd thought it would be, all things considered.

I did like Mr. Saxon, though I thought he'd look a bit more Masterish.

I'd say that was the most enjoyable episode of the season so far. I get the distinct impression that this season has a bigger budget too; the effects are a vast improvement on last season.
Not to mention the little in-joke about how he used to be able to "reverse the polarity" quicker. Lovely touch, that.
Oh hell yes. Easily. Martha doesn't even slightly annoy me except when she makes goo-goo eyes at the Doctor. And I can actually forgive that, because she's not descended from irritating chavs.

I dunno why they have this fixation of making the companions fall in love with the doctor. They were able to go 25 years without that, why do they have to start now. It was bad enough with Rose, do they have to do that with Martha too?
Maybe the next doctor should be ugly - then the companions won't fancy him as much
