This episode has a LOT to do in my opinion, after totally destroying just about everything that made the Daleks what they were last week.

The question is will The Doctor side with Sec or the with the Cult of Skaro, who will likely NOT be overjoyed with Sec's transformation. Will the transformation make Sec MORE evil or will it give him emotions and make him more sympathetic?

eeehhh, it was ok, good episode and lived up to the promise, but i kind of pity sec now we explored the changes in charecter. and why didn't the pure daleks notice when the new daleks humans weren't changed despite apparrently being pure?

What I'm wondering about is if the Doctor got in the way of the radiation doesn't that mean the hybrids were part Time Lord?

    Overall it was not bad

I think the season 1 finale established that Dalek shields can eventually fail if you hit them hard enough enough times. Granted, that was bullets on an eyestalk, this was Dalek tommy guns blasted in their general direction.

This actually played out just like I'd hoped. It was already established back in the first season that a Dalek absorbing human DNA would give it emotions and make it more human, Sec went that way as well. Ultimately I guess you could say he was a patriot or a visionary to the Daleks, he wanted their race to survive at all costs, regardless of the lines to be crossed. Too bad the other three didn't share his vision, I assume this means the next time we see the Daleks they'll be back to normal.

Dalek infighting was nice to see as well, their internal "obey the commander" VS "we are Daleks" struggle was a nice touch. Glad Sec was a sympathetic character in the end, actually. I'd like to think a bit of that existed before as well, and that the addition of humanity to him only brought it to the fore.
Only thing that bugged me was how he paused when speaking. I know the character of Sec probably wasn't used to having lungs, but did.... he need to.... pause every few.... words?

They didn't, they were just finally overcome by the blasts from the Tommy-Dalek-gun things.

but once you consider that sec has been in the shell for god knows how long and is definately outof practice for breathing, his trouble with it is understandable. also he had a very soft voice. shows how much the daleks rely on thier shells for effect as well as life and function.

i would say the shields were weakened by the temporial shift its proberly the same reason for them not taking over when they arrived.

oh and the writers are really going out of their way to curtail the doctors use of the sonic screwdriver to solve his problems

For a second I thought that was what the Face Of Boe was referring to in last week's episode, then the Daleks killed them all.

Of course, with Time Lord DNA, one of them could always regenerate and survive that way.

Seriously doubt it, but that would be an interesting plot thread.

The Dalek infighting was good and played out well.
As for the pausing? I'm guessing he was trying to be like Kirk and procreate a different way :p

But that the thing, from the commentary of Gridlock where The Face of Boe said his secret, Tennant said 'He's not wrong, but he's not entirely right either'
Also the Saxson references are apparently only in modern day episodes, and as we are back there next week we are suppose to get one. From what I've heard it's where things start getting set in motion.

I must admit I thought the scene where the Daleks had Sec on a leash were hilarious..... a "Sec Slave" indeed.

Before the episode even began I said to myself: "The humanity in DALEK SEC will assert itself and he'll start to doubt the Dalek 'cause'. Other DALEKS will turn on him". (EVIL OF THE DALEKS did it better)

Ooh, look what happened!! Never saw that comin'!! And I still found the "pigs" enforcing the will of the "fascist overlords" utterly crass and as subtle as a brick in the kisser. The one single intruiging idea that arose was that maybe the lone DALEK that escaped at the end ("emergancy time shift"???), is the one encountered by Eccleston in season 1's "DALEK"? Paradox ago-go!!

While I still fancy MARTHA JONES :) P   ) something terrible, I won't be watching next week. I gave them a chance, I really did....
