going to watch it now. will post comments after.
edit: nice build up episode, though i am not too sure i like dalek sec's view of the classic pepperpot design. there is quite a wide array of (to be) well developed 1 episode (or 2 in this case) charecters. and the pig men fitted in nicely.

It was a not bad episode.
Nice build up for the next episode, though I had to laugh at the ending.

And I really wished they had used Robo-Men instead of pig-men.

yeh was decent to have a daled 2 parter although i don't think there was enough substance really to make 2 eps out of it, and the human dalek was terrible, it should have been more mechanised.

where does everyone think this storylines going then? i think they will kill sec off and maybe another this season, and kill the rest off early next season and in the finale have davros come back and create more daleks. Appart from davros i don't really see what major enermy they can bring back

    season 1: daleks
    season 2: cybermen
season 3: is assumed by almost everyone to be the master
    season 4: davros???

the only reason i think he hasn't been brough back already is cos theres no way they can really make him look.... cool. They made the cybermen and daleks look like pieces of kit that could so serious damage rather than looking like they had been made by a parent for a kids school play like in the old series, but davros is just a guy with a manky head, theres not much they can do with him

Silurians would be a cool enemy for series 4.

Anyway, nice episode, not too great but fun. Didn't like the look of the human Dalek tough, and the accents were just annoying.

    I enjoyed that.

And the way I look at things is this: The Daleks are trapped in the 1930s: pre-microchip revolution. They don't have the materials avaliable for Robo-men (who were pretty flawed anyway). They can't build themselves a ship to escape. And worse still, if you're the last 4 Daleks in existence, you can't build more casings. Fine, you can probably get together enough equipment to clone a few creatures and fiddle about with human genetics but with no polycarbide to bond or dalekienium to smelt, how the heck do you house them?

Result? Dalek Sec thinks a bit and essentially says "Gentlemen, we need legs."

And next week looks like one cracker of a conclusion!

    Nooo! Dalek Sec!

Damn you Russel T, what the hell did you do to him!
I was half expecting those other Daleks to destroy him for suggesting it, madness.

Surely a mind like a Daleks would see
    Dalek Body:-
    - Heavy Weapons
    - Impenetrable Shield
    - Terrifying appearence.

    Human Body:-
    - No Weapons
    - Weak structure
    - Easily killed
    - Stupid appearence (Squidhead wheee!)

Surely thats the most un-Dalek thing to ever do, put yourself at a disadvantage.

Oh well, Heres hoping Thay, Jast or Caan exterminate him next episode.

Also, first look at an actual un-mutated Dalek creature = Awsome.

Ain't no way Im changing my Avatar to Squidhead

    Yeah, I second that!

I enjoyed this episode. Nice to see a new side to the Daleks, there was almost sadness in the "my world was destroyed" lines. And Sec as that monster has potential, I hope he / it lives on, Sec provides a new focus for the Dalek threat.

Here is hoping the next one delivers on the promise of lots of action.

I guess the rest were tied into his systems?

Pretty decent episode, I have to give them credit for surprising me with the Manlek thing since I was just expecting another round of Ressurection horse beating. It may be wacky, but its unusually original by Dalek story standards and they at least justified it from the black Dalek's point of view

Season 4: Kandyman from The Happiness Patrol. Because Doctor Who needs more killer robots made out of candy. :p

Haven't seen this one yet, obviously, but I'm looking forward to it. Even though the new series is really pushing the Daleks a lot, the current season hasn't failed to impress me yet. This show is a lot better when we're not dropping in on Rose's annoying family every other episode.

I think it was said in interviews that Sec wasn't the only one to escape, just the only one shown. It figures that if one of them can do it, the others would have similar technology.

I'm kinda disappointed with this episode, thought that could be because the "big reveal" was spoiled over here by a prominent tv listings magazine and because the previous episodes have been fantastic.

The fact that Rose herself isn't in it has done wonders for the watchability of the show, from both the dialouge and visual perspectives.

Oh man, I can't agree enough with you. Martha seems like a far more capable (and infinitely less annoying) assistant.
This week's episode was brilliant. RIGHT up until the end, which was incredibly shit.

I was wondering that myself, and then put it down to the writer of the first story only saving one, but this writer needed the others so they made a note of screen that all 4 escaped.

Who are you and what have you done with Yak?

Oldschool Who could go multiple seasons without Daleks, Cybermen, or the Master involved. I'd say there's no reason new Who shouldn't be able to rely on them, but then we'd be left to RTD's unimaginative zoo monsters. (Tree people, spider woman, pig people, rhino police, etc.) Anyway, if imaginative people could make up good aliens, if the TARDIS could go to alien planets, and if the scripting was good, we wouldn't rely on constant visits from Daleks.
