...if you adult age folks are still buying these robots they saw you with as a kid? If so:

    What did they say?

    How did you respond back?

Okay, my last thread was about how you'd react if someone in a toy store gave you funny looks or if you'd be embarassed to be seen in public with a Transformer. Just wondering what your parents and/or family thinks especially if you're the only one in your family who still buys toys.

    They're bemused but tremendously supportive.

*chuckle* What does your mom define as "proper"? What's "improper" about the display case you have now?

my parents are dead, and i stay away from the rest of my family.

I have my Girlfriend, my Room mate, and a few very close friends who are supportive, but my liking transformers is the least of my oddities to overcome. I also do recreational drugs, Have a stiletto shoe/boot addiction, and spend exhorberant amounts of money on fetish and dungeon toys.

So yeah, transformers are the least of their worries.

I haven't lived at home for years, so my parents don't have any idea how many transformers I have, but if they did I'm sure they would probably think its a waste of money. They grew up in a totally different generation, so I don't think they'd understand adults spending $100s on toys.

I pay the bills at home, so I don't care. They never said anything either.

At first my parents especially my dad was incensed that i kept 'wasting' and spending money uncecessarily towards so-called 'toys'. I lost count the times we got into a major arguments, and at one point he threathened to kick me out fo the house. I still do buy my fair share of TF's even after the incident. He's not so bothered or makes a fuss about my recent hauls too much.. but the they're your folks, so it's natural for them to worry about their son/daughter whom always spends their savings on plastic crack. But Im sure every one of us TF collector has both good and bad experiences dealing with loved ones/ family members/ GF' etc at one pivital point of their collecting time frame.

I'm 18, but I think this may still apply.

My family makes fun of me for it. I make fun of myself for it. It's all in good fun; and that's just how we roll.

Though my Uncle is the one that introduced me to plastic crack (Curse him), so it's not really anything new in my family.

she told me to get a glass display instead of using my brothers aquarium. i still have my bro's aquarium and still use it as a display case. i'm too cheap to buy proper display cases.

my wife bought me a glass display case last year since her dog ate three of my TFs. my mom wants them all in a glass display not an aquarium.

    btw aquarium's are UV protected.

I would think that this would relate to how you're doing in life. My kids are still very young, but how I would relate to a hobby will depend on whether they're doing well otherwise.

Collecting transformers (or any other hobby) and off to college or otherwise successful? Great.

Collecting transformers and laying about doing nothing and failing at life? Not good.

I'm very financially responsible, save tons of money, take care of all my bills and have no debt. So, if TFs are what I enjoy and I want to spend some of my disposable income on toys, my parents don't see any problem with my collecting. When they come to visit, they're usually impressed with the shelves/displays I have set up and how well I take care of all my toys.

This. I don't smoke and only occasionally drink. Toys are the least of society's problems.
