That depends on the kind of Optimus we're talking about.

Are we talking a G1-style Optimus Prime who is a mix of fun and serious or a Prime-style Optimus Prime who is bland stoicism and dialogue that always sounds like either a heroic speech or the lead-up to a heroic speech? I'd dig a movie featuring the former and I could believe he'd have the personality to work as the central character in a story.

An Optimus Prime movie should ideally just be a movie called Transformers.

 

I still prefer Transformers as an ensemble cast movie rather than solo character movies, so I will say preferably not.

That said, I will give any Transformers movie, regardless of what characters are featured or what continuity it takes place in.

 

Just a proper ensemble movie done right would be good. Transformers isn't like Marvel or DC where every character has their own thing and enviroment that makes them unique and special; Transformers has always been an ensemble thing, to the point where no character has been immune from being disposable, and while Bumblebee has presented an opportunity to do things differently, I can't see there being too many many characters that will inspire a story that couldn't be done as a straight TF movie.

 

Yes. But as along for a bonus Seth MacFarlane is directing. I mean anything could happen since we got Travis Knight.

 

I’d like him to get more spotlight in the next movie than, TLK, and Bumblebee. However I don’t think he needs his own movie for that.

 

I would love a movie that could celebrate and do justice to Peter Cullen's legendary talent, career and portrayal of Optimus Prime, with him in the epicentre. I just don't think Lorenzo could ever be the one to produce it.

You know what would be an absolutely perfect way to do? Make it directly personal for EVERYONE who grew up with Optimus Prime as a father figure, by focusing directly on that bond. Make it about Optimus who has to protect a kid who for whatever reason is the target of a Decepticon hunting party, on a road trip across a US desert. Raise the stakes by having him been damaged in the opening fight to the point where his communication array doesn't work, so he can't call on reinforcements, and has a handicap due to his wounds. Make the villains the Stunticons (who could be a bigger team), with Motormaster as the central antagonist. Have moments of action where Optimus has to outsmart them as much as he has to defeat them, switched up by quiet moments focused on gorgeous scenery and character moments where he bonds with the child under his care. Finish it off with a climactic battle with Menasor, and an emotional goodbye between the two leads.

Basically it'd be Terminator 2 meets the parts of AoE where Lockdown was hunting down Optimus. It'd work as a sequel to Bumblebee (by keeping it the same type of movie), and (if this is his final time voicing Optimus) be a heartfelt send off for Peter Cullen.

 

And have it be where his T-cog is malfunctioning and if he keeps transforming he'll be stuck as a truck forever

 

Only if it’s done by Knight and Christina like Bee was. I have faith in them now. Much more than anyone who worked on Bayverse.

 

An Orion Pax to Optimus Prime/The War Within origin story could be an interesting premise for a movie

 

Better don't as previous Bay movie he already a leader. I more prefer Ultra Magnus as he is a fresh character.

 

I think it’s necessary in a way to establish this isn’t facestealer prime.

 

Now THAT is something I would go to the theatre to see.

 

I want an Onionus Prime movie before he became leader of the Ogrebots.
