I want to take a poll here to see how many people want a proper MP Ultra Magnus. Not just a white repaint of Prime, but a MP Ultra Magnus with Trailer that UM wears.

Let's put aside part forming for a second and assume it is done correctly. Let's also go by standard price points. Takara $250, Hasbro $100 with trailer.

What I am try to gauge is the pent up demand for MP Ultra Magnus.

Certainly. I was actually thinking off a way it could work with NO partsforming at all when I was on a long car ride, and it could still be at the size that could be sold in Hasbro markets.

MP Magnus with armour has already been hinted at by takara developers, to be made using th MP 10 cab.

Any TF fan worth their salt would want this. In fact I'd go as far to say I'd take Ultra Magnus over Rodimus any day.

    I can't see U.S retailers wanting a $100 Ultra Magnus.

    'Ultra Who?'

The same could be said of Rodimus Prime but the market the MP line is aimed at know exactly who these characters are.

Yeah, I thought so too. I don't think there is even a question that the fans want this.

I, for one, would actually like a partsforming UM MP :D

i thought it was already established that department stores limit on transformers price tag was $100..seeing as the movie devy was $100 and some MP were close to that or 80 bucks as well..there was a comment in a tread awhile back bout $100 being the end all be all for bigger bots..

TRU would hit that. I think they've been fairly successful with mp grimlock and maybe to a lesser extent mp-rodimus, which were creeping up to the $70-80 retail mark anyway. I think they'd do a combo at that price point.

Sigh, answering here so I don't clutter the MP-11 therad anymore.

This assmes that 1) this board is representative of the MP market and 2) a high yes vote can somehow be extrapolated to overall demand.

At best this is the equivalent of a focus group. Good for gauging direction but something that should NEVER be used when making strategic decisions.

Edit: Side point, but how do you get to $100 US being a standard price?

What market do you think Masterpiece are aimed at?

I would say the older person on a nostalgia trip or a collector....or both combined lol those that were either around when G1 was or the diehard fan that knows all about TF's and wants the definitive fully articulated figure of choice. No-one is gonna spring the kinda money MP's are for a kid to destroy...there are plenty or cheaper crappier lines for that to be done with.

Would that not make a board such as this the perfect foil to garner potential interest?

30+ price hike plus a character with less name recognition than Grimlock?

Hasbro may prove me wrong, but i still think U.S. retailers will be slow to bite.

My point is simply that it is an assumption. (And we all know what happens when we assume).

Anyway, there are a lot of different TF boards, I assume with different views, not only the fact that MPs are released in Japan/Asia and that this is a (mostly) NA board who generally have import costs that affect purchase decisions.

I really don't think Alucard is trying to represent the population with this poll. He's just gauging the general interest of this particular community, not developing a marketable strategy for Hasbro.

Ultra Magnus is the only way I'll get MP-10 in any form. But only if Hasbro releases him w/ his Trailer/ armor.

MP-01 is my Optimus. All I need is to get money & find a trailer for him.
