In terms of articulations, transformations and design wise~

They are not as blocky anymore~
They are more rounded and both bot and vehicle modes looks good~

    Nope.

They seem fairly plain to me, nothing really wows me (outside of some of the first edition figures).

    Are there good figures? Yes
Are they all good figures? No, while some such as Wheeljack and Soundwave are excellent, not all others are that good. Although, I personally like all of them...

They aren't any better than Animated and some of the newer "classics" really. Most of the First editions are pretty nice, and some of the RiD look like they'll be good. But I don't think you could say they're THE best. Just among some of the best.

I felt that animated designs are too cartoonish

    TFP design somehow more realistic?

First Edition Bulkhead is one of the best voyagers ever, in my opinion.

Arcee? Oh no. No. her bike mode is too thick (you can see the arms on the sides from the top). Animated Prowl is still the best bike transformer ever created. She's a cool toy, but not the best at anything.

I think they are the best as far as being show accurate, well most of them anyway. FE Optimus is amazing

Movieverse. It has many clunkers, but also has more truly great toys than TFP has toy releases at all, so far. I don't see any TFP toys released so far or even on the horizon that are as impressive as Buster Prime, for example. And the movie Optimus model is something much harder to capture, thanks to the aesthetic and complexity, making it all the more impressive.

Animated beats them in show accuracy by a mile.

To be fair, TFA designs are deliberately simplistic and stylized. I enjoyed TFA as a show but found their toys to be overly simplistic and unsatisfying as a whole to transform and fiddle with. TFP toys seem to hit that sweet spot between show accuracy, transformation engineering, and complexity (ie. challenge to transform them; they're not as difficult as some of the ROTF/DOTM stuff nor as easy as the TFA stuff).

Nope. The majority of them do very little for me.

Not really, while they're good toys, I wouldn't call them the best.

My favorites are still the Classics and G1. I like the Prime toys, but I'm more excited about Bruticus and those 40 figures coming out next year.

I wouldn't say it's the best yet but it's still good for me so far!:thumb  I mean yeah we got some meh toys like Bumblebee,Cliffjumper and Bulkhead so far but we also have Wheeljack,Arcee,Ratchet,Vehicon and Soundwave which look sweet so I have high hopes for the line.

The thing is I don't try to compare if either Animated or Prime did better in terms of engernering and accracy. They are completely different styles which work thier own ways. Animated's more simple while Prime's more complex. I don't bother thinking which is best because I accept what thye are both aiming for.

I'd say it's a little early to judge much based on the first RID wave or so, as many lines seem to hit their stride 2 or 3 waves in. So far to me Prime toys seem a lot like a bit more cohesive take on Movie toy engineering, much as the show feels compared to the movies themselves.

Classicsverse for me. Recent stuff like the Wreck Gar mold, RtS Jazz and such prove that your G1 characters don't need to look like blocks and still be faithful to their original designs.

The line just started. It's unfair to judge it one way or the other since we have no idea what's coming in the next 1-3 years for Prime.

Ask this question again in a few years or whenever the line ends and we'll see.

No, only good RID toys are Vehicon, Soundwave and Wheeljack. All of which I plan on getting.

Apart from that the toyline has gotten off from a mediocre start.
