    Transformers: ROTF just missed over throwing TDK.
    Do you think that the death of Michael Jackson restricted potential movie goers?

    No, I think it was actually that traffic jam in downtown LA that prevented people from seeing the movie that day..thus it missed the mark.

    Do you honestly think his death has a big impact on people going to see the movies? I bet he still has a lot of hardcore fans, but we're not all collectively going to shut down our daily business just because he died..the show must go on. :)

    How?

    Other than the Jackson family and his personal friends, how many people are going to spend the weekend in mourning?

    It wasn't Micheal Jackson's death. It was Billy Mays'.

    If you are going to blame something blame Twitter, Face Book, My Space, or something like that. Word of mouth travels insanely fast now so in spite what some people might claim quick bad reviews by average people are out there.

    I mean just look at the daily numbers for the film to see how the other days compare to opening day.

    IMO it effected. Not all people make plans before going to a movie. Sometimes they decide spontaneously. I think small amount of people changed their minds (or they did not even decide) about going to a movie.

    Why would it? MJ had nothing to do with TF's, and Batman actualy had a plot from what I'm hearing about ROTF, so it's a no-brainer why TDK still stands where it is.

    No Michael Jackson's death wouldn't effect movie goers, but I also saw that Billy Mayse died as well. Billy Mayse' death is very sad. My prayers with his family as well as Jackson's.

    He does have a point. The ratings for the major news networks increased by 300% once it was announced MJ was dead. The internet almost came to a halt. I went seen it for a second time with some friends on Friday and the Theater was at full capacity. If it did effect ticket sales, it didn't in the SF Bay Area.

    Hell no. That kept about the same amount of people from going to the movies that having explosive diarrhea does on a regular basis.

    I saw the movie on the premier day, but even so, I'm a big fan of MJ and his funky tunes, I was shocked by his death but not shocked enough to not go to a dang movie or hole myself up in my house o_O ;
