That's sort of like asking if there will be another solar eclipse. There will be, it's only a question of when. Transformers have to be rebooted from time to time in order to be new, otherwise they won't sell. But for now, they've found something that works. It won't work forever though, and we'll see a brand new movie series eventually.

I think there will be one, but not for a good while. I think that once Bay is done with Transformers, we'll go back to having cartoons (Hasbro supposedly already has a new one in the works), then some different director will come along and, hopefully, make a great reboot movie, which will lead to at least two sequels to it. Kinda like with the Batman movies, though probably with more time in between the first run of movies and the reboot.

i wonder what the next reboot will be, though?

between the toy continuities they have covered some very diverse bases - I'm still optimistic about the Hearts Of Steel line that will never get made, but in the absence of that i'm looking forwards to seeing a fresh concept for Transformers. Maybe robots that turn into rocks ;)

my money is on manga for the new cartoon, although new CGI would be supercool.

Hahahaha, well like the Batman fans, we can always find alternative forms of media. Batman fans went back to their comics and we can go back to our toys and tv shows.

Honestly, the movies for me are a good excuse to see great toys on the shelf. So right now, I'm kinda contented. I believe they'll be a reboot, eventually, but probably not anytime soon. Maybe our grandkids will see it.

Still crossing my fingers for that Star Wars reboot...someone will have to assassinate Lucas first...

i'd hazard a guess they'd reboot about three years after the movie lines stop selling, which will be about a couple of years after the last movie. leaves enough time for the stale reputation to be forgotten and a new target market to come up.

so if TF3 tanks, then i reckon you'll only have 5 years to wait :)

i've revised my unimaginative manga theory too: Transformers 3D. you heard it here first etc etc.

    Likely.

They've rebooted James Bond, Batman, The Hulk; and they're looking at rebooting Fantastic Four and Daredevil. Shoot, Spiderman 5 & 6 are being written in such a way that they can use them as reboots if #4 tanks. Reboots are in these days. TF will get the treatment eventually.

Four. You forgot Robots in Disguise. And really, it's five, since Cybertron wasn't supposed to be a sequel to Energon. That was a dub invention. That leaves

    G1/G2/BW/BM
    Robots in Disguise
    Armada/Energon
    Cybertron
    TF07/RotF
    Animated

*counts on fingers* Yeah, that's five reboots after the original.

How about Michael Bay? I heard that he's a director with a knack for action and visuals, would be perfect for the franchise.

He's also good at making sex jokes and making successful movies that are actually mindless action flicks :D  Transformers will get a reboot eventually, it's not like Hollywood has any original ideas
