    In the movie when the space bridge got destroyed what was already on the earth side was left in the atmosphere.

    It was a ruined, burned out, lifeless husk back before the first movie. That's why all the TFs were spread across the galaxy.

    As to the OP: Neither. Just a portion of it. Cybertron's a planet, it can withstand the destruction of a single tower.

    That is the most logical explanation, but the teleportation and the disruption of it could allow for the classic G-1 look of a half eaten planet.

    Personally I think it was destroyed. The fact that hundreds of Cons were in hiding on the moon shows that they knew it was a barren wasteland and fled from there. The same could be said for the rest of the surviving Autobots.
