Well, it is Bay after all, so I predict that the successor to Optimus would be everyone's favorite Victoria's Secret model turned Autobot Commander: Adriana Lima Prime. She would carry the Great Matrix of Leadership between her boobies of course, which the camera would take note of constantly, at least until said Matrix explodes. Kaboom.

It could work, but let's be honest, hearing Peter Cullen's powerful voice is what makes watching it all the more worthwhile.

No Transformers series can survive without an Optimus whether he is the absolute Prime or the leader of the Five Man Band.

It could work if a strong character replaced him. But in the current movie continuity character development isn't all that great.

Funny if the fandom had accepted Rodimus way back when then we wouldn't be having this dicussion but the fact is these days OP can't be replaced.

That said I'd like to see a series with Jetfire and Soundwave as the leaders.

No if optimus was Replaced then Rodimus would have to be the new Prime.

a movie without Optimus Prime in it? possible. Doable? No

Hasbro probably doesn't want a repeat of season 3 of G1 again. 1986 movie, they had to get rid of the major cast, which included Optimus, to make room for the new guys like Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Kup, Wheelie, Galvatron, etc. I don't think it would succeed at all if they tried that same idea now.

If it doesn't have my favorite Character I won't bother with it sorry no dice..... Optimus is the draw and if he ain't in it and when I say in it I mean not some small thing and then killed off because I would not bother with anymore of the movies then. I can not stand Hot Rod

Depends. I think one of the reasons why rotf sucked was that Optimus was dead during 80% of the film. But if there was someone in the leader role it would work.

Really? I think that having Optimus die was one of the better parts of RotF, personally. Could've been better had they dwelled on it a bit more and/or showed some more remorse from the Autobots and/or even hinted at Ironhide officially taking command and/or discussed what they were planning on doing with the body (Lennox discussing a proper funeral) or something.

And to be pedantic, Optimus is really only dead for about 40-45% of the movie. :p  (I get your point, though)

This exactly. The main problem with the film series is that there's no development for anyone but Optimus and Bumblebee. There's so much wasted potential out there, but unless it's one of the big two, then there's no reason to even bother getting involved in the character.

If Hasbro isn't going to do a MOVIE with no Optimus, why not do a SERIES where there's no Optimus at the start. Have him be a myth or legendary figure when they're talking about him, and bring him in and have people be as awestruck as Smokescreen was when they see him? Then they can gauge the fan reaction of removing Optimus and can bring him in quickly if they see things going pear shaped too quickly.

You can not have an icon character like Optimus Prime not in it, the few you suggested this are what like three or five out of millions and millions of fans of this character. Besides in the long run, its up to Hasbro for movies and series anyway. And I am sure they do not want a repeat like what happened when they killed off Optimus in G-1, I honestly do not think most people understand the type of following that character has. Because if they did these types of Comments wouldn't be made plain and simple. (and no I am not a kid or teenager I am in my forties) and I have talked to a lot of kids who love Transformers, mostly because I wrote Transformers stories now professionally. And every single kid I spoke to says the same thing about Optimus Prime. That they love him, and he's their hero.

It would be interesting. If I were to think of the heros for the movie, this would be my list:
    -Bumblebee
    -Cliffjumper
    -Ultra Magnus
and that's all i can really think of. Sorry, if this disappoints you......
