if you head out someplace, do you grab a toy and take it with you? i was just wondering, cuz last night i went with my fiance to her parents to watch the golden globes and while sitting there, i thought "damn, i shoulda brought an alternator with me" ive got a habit of fiddling with things all the time anyway, so to give me something like that when i go somewhere would be nice, but at the same time, i dont need to be the ubergeek and drag stuff with me all the time. i do bring scouts or minicons with me to work on occasion, and fiddle with them during my prep period, and if i take a vacation and head to denver, ill usually bring a scout with me too. but, yeah, i just wondered if anyone else takes a toy with them when they head out somewhere...

    I don't...I should though.

I usually bring a book, magazine, comic, or the DS if I want something to occupy my time.

I generally have my DS or a book with me as well. Now that I have a TF keychain, however, I have something to like that to mess with and I have found that I take it out and transform it just for the hell of it. I think that is just because it is new, to tell the truth.

Honestly, this is one of those few points where, really, I do feel like I've outgrown the need to do it. I just feel immature if I carry around a TF to keep me distracted; I'd rather mess around with the simple games on my cell phone or read a book.

Yeah I agree. However I still cringe a little with Transformers being called toys. Action figures for me please.

I play bowling on my phone, or fiddle with LOCS/Minicons/WSTFs. Though when I was on Holiday I did end up taking CYB Megs to fiddle with.

As a grown adult, no, I certainly don't take childrens toys with me when I leave the house... not unless I 'm in the mood for validated weird looks & ridicule.

Some things are better left private: porn, weird medications, and most definitely kids toys bought by an adult that are played with rather than just collected. IMO anyway.

I want to do something like what Motor Master was doing at Botcon. He brough 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime with him everywhere to take pictures of him everywhere. I was thinking of bringing Soundwave with me and take pictures of him in different places: at the Arch, at a Cardinals game, on the beach, on plane, in a box, with a fox...

They ARE toys! Only little kids need to call them "action figures"!

We "toy" with them, so they are "toys". :)

I find it comes across as even more nerdy to try to salvage some sort of pride by insisting my toys aren't really toys. I pretty much cop to it. I'm a grown-up, and I still collect toys. End of story. Once you admit to that, there's not really much someone can say to embarrass you. ;)

I definitely fiddle with TFs around the house... often if I'm watching a movie or something, I'll keep a TF on the coffee table to occupy myself, but I don't take them out with me... I find it would just be too awkward, not only from a social perception standpoint, but just because I usually have enough stuff to carry around. I'm all about reading in those situations.

When I buy something new, I would probably open it and fiddle with it on the subway or something, but the way Hasbro packages things these days, it's way too much hassle to get something out of those twist-ties! grrr.

I DO take toys out when I have something new, and I'm going to see a friend who will want to see it. Kind of a show-and-tell, "look what I just got" sort of thing. It's good to have friends I can do that with, because it adds an extra dimension to the whole experience of having something new. Gotta show it off to someone else who will appreciate it! :)

I agree with Smog. First of all they are toys, Plain and simple. If I'm watching a particularly boring movie (i.e. for the wife) I might bring up a few of my newest acquititions to play with. I also might take my newest ones to show a friend of mine. I also do the same with my customs. That's it, with a wife and three kids there really is no room to tote my toys around.

(although, when the 5 year old brings a few good ones..... I might paw at one or two)

Hmm, I pretty much carry my DS lite with me and an i-top pro, because they're so damn cool.

Occasionally I'll have a Graphic novel in the bag as well, usually a thick one so I can had reading material on the crapper.

I usually have some toys littering my desk at work, but apart from that... not really.

If Im going to my parents house for a few days, I may bring a couple of items that I haven't opened yet. As a general rule though I don't bring any TFs with me when I travel.

Yeah that didn't work out as well as I thought it would. But I did achieve the main goal of bringing a MIB 20th Ann Op with me to Botcon and that was to have it signed by Peter Cullen! :lol  that reminds me I need to find those pics of Prime drinking Tricky's beer.

Yeah I prefer my DS to bringing a TF. Besides I'd be too worried that I'd break it.

Nope never even considered it. I have taken my PSP on an airplane and it acts as my music player when I go to work. But I don't play games at work. My general manager did though when I got GTA VCS lol
