What is a good rule of thumb for removing batteries? After six months of not really using the electronics? What about button cell batteries? I should probably take the batteries out of my Armada Unicron soon, it's been a few years. What advice do you have? I've probably got a good 50- 100 figures with batteries.

I take them all out as I get the figure. Electronics bother me enough to make it worthwhile.

I've never really had any problems with keeping the batteries in mine, all my electronics still work fine, maybe I'm just lucky.

i have a few gameboys that have battery gunk all over the battery compartment and they dont work anymore. it really sucks but the only electronic tfs are the leader class movie figs so ill leave mine in for a while and then take em out, whenever i pass by my premium prime, i still use his head automorph just for kicks

Yeah I take mine out. Just good practice because all batteries corrode over time.

I take them out of mine, makes them light so they are easier to pose sometimes and I usually don't care for the lame sounds they make. Like Armada Galvatron, sounded like the cartoon version of Inspector Gadget so I took his batteries out.

Take them out... especially the AA, AAA, C and D.

Never seen the smaller batteries (that fit into watches and stuff) leak... but then again...

I take them off. I usually smuggle my TFs back home, so I 'silence' them so they don't make any sounds in my pocket/bags...

Gone the minute I get the things open. Can't stand'em. Seems the triggers are always somewhere you're gonna hit it 6 or 7 times while transforming them. Drives me nuts.

Also, there's the damage from corroding batteries factor as mentioned.

After reading this thread I decided to check my batteries & Energon Jetfire had some serious gunk. So after cleaning it out, I removed all AA/AAA's from my guys, save Movie Prime, Brawl & Cybertron Metroplex(found no signs of gunk on any button cells, and the others are too new to have any gunk yet, plus I really like Metroplex's axe thing)

Only to replace them with better ones. I don't trust Hasbro batteries. They smell... peculiar.

I like lights and sounds. It makes my inner weetad happy. :D

Oddly enough the batteries in my RID Air Attack Optimus Primal and BM Supreme Cheetor still work. As for the newer stuff I don't know.

For the most part I take batteries out if they're supplied nowadays, for the same reason as Chaos Sorcerer more than to prevent leakage.

Button batteries, as far as I know, should be fine. Considering I've got G2 Transformers (Illuminators/Laser Rods etc), which I've had 15-odd years, 3 of which have necessarily been spent in a slightly damp basement - still contain the batteries they were supplied with, and light up as brightly as they day I got 'em.

I take all the batteries out only because I keep a large portion of my TF collection at work, and it's embarrasing when I'm mssing around with the toys to mistakenly trigger a whole series of voices and sounds :p

Hmm that reminds me, I should really take out my Leader Prime's batteries... I only have 3 toys with electronics anyways though, and one of them (Optimal Optimus) never had batteries for more than the 2 minutes it took to test the lights.
