That's a problem that is pretty common. I can fiddle with mine and get it to close, but it pops open very easily.

Isn't it to do with which way round you put the matrix in? I seem to remember it's not totally symmetrical (width-ways) so the doors only sit flush if you place the matrix facing out one way of the two possible configurations. I might be mis-remembering or thinking of MP-01 though.

Do I want one? I mean, I guess so.....?

Will I buy one, yeah I guess. Kinda indifferent.

Would I want one vs a new 84-85 carbot? Hell no.

MP10 is a great representation of the character.
    Is he perfect? no.
    Is any MP perfect? no.
    Will I buy a v3 him? no

It isn't like Megatron, where MP5 was a joke and seriously needed replacing. MP10 fits the bill, and I would rather buy other MP characters to fill my shelves. If TT wants to keep re releasing old characters, there are 3Ps that can help me to assemble my team of MP bots.

They will need to do much better than:

    20180317_123743.jpg 20180318_123111.jpg

Maybe I am mis-remembering. Did the cartoon Megatron have a back that looked like rhe Death Star trench

To be fair, Megatron's character model had one of the busiest backsides in G1.

I can't say on that, but sometimes I do just leave the matrix out altogether and it does close better.

Suddenly I want an X-wing from the Star Wars Micro Collection to play with in Megatron's back :lol

Shame that subline didn't work out! (Can you tell I've just started watching The Toys That Made Us in preparation for the TF episode?)

Megatron's complicated transformation led to some sacrifices in aesthetics in his back, sure, but having seen what TT have done with Dinobot, I have full faith v3 OP will have a beautiful rear.

Personally, no. Takara's just not doing it for me anymore and a redo is even lower on my priority list. But I expect I'd be able to import a few of them for resale. Unless they break the $300 barrier, a possibility that's far more likely than ever. So do whatever you want I guess.

Here's the thing...once you get a couple of add-ons, MP-10 was basically THE perfect standard for "Masterpiece".
    He had:
-replay value (trailer, roller, mini figs, etc)
-no argument of "cartoon versus toy accuracy"
-no QC issues to speak of

My MP-10 has (don't remember which companies did all these):
    -LED eyes/head
    -LED matrix
    -hose/gas nozzle kit for roller
-bigger gun (that doesn't fold weak-saucely in half and look cheap as hell)
-arm panel mods / chrome smokestacks
    -fully articulated KFC hands

There are only TWO changes I would still make (or buy add-ons to upgrade):
    -LED-enabled ion rifle
-hinged skirts that allow his hips to rotate UP fully (for sitting positions)

Due to all of the weird expectations and offerings that have evolved over the years with TT and 3P toys, one of my personal and weird standards for "MP" has become "can this bot assume a proper seated position?"...check your detolfs, you'd be surprised at how many of your "high-end" toys cannot perform this simple, basic function (of which MP-10 is guilty, due to how his truck diaper has no hinges built into it).

If MP-10 could fully SIT (and maybe cross one ankle over the other leg...the TRUE test) he would be truly PERFECT...but am I going to spring for V. 3?

    No.

While mp10 is a lot better than mp1, the gorilla arms always bugged me. And if it had the cartoon look it would be awesome. As of now, it's closer, but not exactly.

Well , MP-10 had 3 and 1/2 star rating on Amazon JP, it'll be interesting to see what the people Takara actually makes this stuff for think, if they think a new one Prime (possibly) is better.

I would buy him if the trailer collapsed and then disappeared as it did in the cartoon.

No sir, i dont want it. Mainly because unless its a one-off anniversary thing, they will kost likely reboot the MP line. No thanks.

I don't want a 35th anniversary Prime. MP-10 was a nice refinement of MP-1 and with the oversimplified aesthetic (Inferno) they're doing with lots of panels (MP-36), that sacrifices real world alt-modes and a really nice updated G1-toy bot modes for the toon aesthetic which really irks me.

If we're basing it on what I personally want, then no. However, my personal expectations aren't (and shouldn't be) a top priority and Takara is obviously catering to a branch of the fanbase that wants a more cartoon accurate Convoy/Optimus that'll sync up aesthetically with MP-36. I understand the want for it as Convoy/Optimus is and always has been a cash cow. I'd just rather they focus on characters that have yet to receive the MP treatment.

No. I didn't buy mp10 cuz I already have an mp prime. Yes, mp01 is way out of scale but I don't need 3 different or even 2 different versions of the same character. In my opinion, I agree with the op in saying that they are shooting themselves in the foot by not making characters that do not have an mp toy yet.

Since seeing what MP Optimus V3 looks like I've changed my mind, I just don't think Prime's cartoon model looks great in toy form. I'mma be tracking down an MP-10 after all.

I'm not personally after any more Masterpiece figures, but I see enough of my friends and fellow collectors excited for this, so good for them! MP-10 is still a delightful and relevant figure, sure. However when you compare its posability and level of engineering with Megatron MP-36 and Sunstreaker, it's not quite at the same level while still a brilliant figure in and of itself. If the aim of MP Convoy V3 is to stand comparably with the level of engineering, articulation and heavier toon-styling of MP-36, then I don't think it signals a scale reboot. It could open the doors for a new MP Starscream and seeker series, maybe the odd re-imagined MP car with up to date engineering and articulation like Sunny, but i think it would be good for a lot of MP collectors to have a Prime worthy of the Megatron we just got.

    All the best
    Maz
