Do you PS3 owners use your system for anything other than games?

I'm just curious. I tend to exploit the living hell out of all the features, but I wonder how many people just use it for games and movies.

I download movies or Episodes (ie. Transformers animated) and watch them on there as opposed to my PC. I listen to music (MP3 and CD), since it's the only thing attached to my surround system. I watch BluRays and DVDs on it. I do surf the internet on it, on occasion, and if I want to show a youtube video to a group of friends, I end up doing it there, since I can zoom into it and punch it up on my bigger LCD TV.

And when my cousin got married recently, he brought his camera card and we looked at his slideshow with our music pumping in the background.

We played Monopoly with my cousin and his wife from Houston using the larger chat window capabilities of the PSEye, and Spent New Years (virtually) with them by the same means.

I use it for remote play so I can play Final Fantasy 9 while taking a dump.

And Finally, I cook burgers on it, due to its llovely George Forman Grill design.

I'll use it to browse the net once in awhile and watch movies. It's a fantastic upconverting DVD player and I've been stocking up on Blu-Ray films since I got it.

If I bought one, the one thing I wouldn't probably do is play games on it. Just not interested in anything.

My brother-in-law's mother works at Sony. According to her, all the engineers at Sony feel that the processors in the PS3 are far superior to any of the standalone Blu-Ray players. Including those with the Sony name on them.

Interesting I didn't know that. I had heard that it was one of the better BR players, but I didn't know why.

Oh, I also use it for Folding home, but I don't know if that's so much a feature, as much as just something to do....

Now... if they did a SETI type thing for it, I'd be all over that.

Upscaling DVD's, streaming from PC, browsing photo's...

...it also plays Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

Maybe one day it will play Resistance 2, but who knows.

We're buying one in a couple of weeks. Already been stocking up on Blu-Ray movies, and the way I convinced my wife to make the purchase was two fold...

    1) Our DVD player is getting creaky and not working so hot anymore, and the PS3 is a solid upscaling DVD player, and
    2) She really wanted an AppleTV or something of its ilk for streaming media from our computer.

Since a PS3 is the same price as an upscaling DVD player and an AppleTV, and has the added bonus of being a Blu-Ray player and a game system for me, we're going to do it. If anything, with my time being so limited these days, it will surely get used much more for streaming media and playing movies than it will for gaming.

It is my main stay DVD and Blu-Ray player, Tons of gaming on it. I use it to watch the porn... uh, I mean You tube :D ream:. I wish I could use it to do the remote play but I have to wait for the new hacked FW. I am also looking to use it to stream my newly found divx files but I have to fork over $20 for the macpatable software.

Internet porn videos are way better on a full size TV.

You haven't seen porn until you have witnessed it on a 106" HD projector. Bigger than my freakin' arm I tells ya!

Well I got one almost exclusively for it's Blu-ray capability rather then for gaming which I see as more of a plus. After playing with it for a few days now I also like it a lot for playing video's off my PC and as well as viewing pictures and whatnot. Went through some episodes of TF Masterforce and Victory and they look amazing playing off it on the HD set.

I use it as a DVD player, to play music off my DAP hooked up to one of the USB ports, and to browse the internet occasionally.

You mean you're not holding out for the long Internet-rumored PS3 version of Gears of War?
