    thread/reality.

Frankly though, the previous films weren't the best they could have offered and they don't hold up very well with the test of time. I more than welcome reboots. I'll also welcome the next Batman reboot too despite the quality of the Nolan films.

Am I upset that a series of shit films will be ended, thus giving a chance future movies will be made by someone who understands the characters? Hmm, it's a tough one...

I'm looking forward to the Reboot because I'm wanting to see a more violent version and wisecracking version of Spidey which the previous films left out.

The first two films were great but as bad as the third one was I'd rather see a reboot than continue flying around in that shitstorm. And it would be nice to see a Venom that was done right.

Hell yeah, reboot the Spider-Man movies. And while they're at it, can they reboot the comics as well?

So long as Kirsten Dunst isn't involved, I'm all for it.

I'll reserve judgement until the final product. Heck, I thought Tobey Maguire was a terrible choice at first, now I can't see Spidey without him even if he is like 55 years old.

    Yes and no.

Yes because while S3 was alright in my book, it certainly did not sit well with the fans and with good reason as it could have been a lot better.

No because then we need to start all over again. New character development, new origin story and old villains that have already been played out. It is like watching a new cartoon series...the story is the same, but the art is different.

They shouldn't reboot it. The other ones aren't that old. I don't see why they couldn't just make the next movie as SPiderman's next adventure instead of rehashing the same crap over. We know how he got his powers. We don't need to see it again. There are other villians than the Goblin all over again. SM3 did have the symbiote part in the lab if they wanted to do Venom again.

Frankly I think it will just confuse most people that aren't use to movie reboots. They'll remember the other movies & wonder why they are showing the same stuff again.

The recent Hulk movie was done right. While technically it was a reboot, they didn't cover the exact same ground again so it did feel like a sequel to many people. Some things didn't line up between movies but we didn't have to see him become the Hulk again.

    I'll still see it though.

If it's better and stops giving EVERY villain some sad story EVERY time, then yes. If it becomes Twilight Spiderman, then no.

Age really does matter, IMO. Raimi wrecked the franchise by killing off the three most important villains. The films are just a wreck, and a sequel just is not going to save that. Also, the studios learned their lesson with the Batman, Superman, and even Hulk franchises. It's just better to start fresh without any baggage.

I think in today's reboot heavy movie market, fans are not only more aware of reboots, but also more accepting of them. Nevertheless, this film will challenge if 4 years is too soon. It was 8 years between B&R and Batman Begins.
I agree. I think this is key just like the Batman reboot. Fans know the origins and main characters, no need for re-introductions and origins. Problem with the Hulk reboot was that they placed too faith in the old TV show and not enough faith in the comic.

And this is all that matters really.

I voted "no, give us #4 instead) on the basis that I was really wanting to see Dylan Baker become the Lizard. Also because of JK Simmons as JJJ. THAT was inspired casting.

That's the way I feel about it too. I also dislike rebooting this soon, because it makes me feel like what was the point of them doing the first three? It's like if Marvel rebooted a comic series after just a few issues. It'd make you feel like what was the point of buying them? In this case "them" being paying to see it at the theater and possibly buying the DVDs/BR's later.
