    Personally,it gets a no,wrong colors,different alt & bot designs. no headmasters,different weapons.

At the very least hasbro could have given the 2010 highbrow toy 1987 homage highbrow colors. that would have made a world of a difference.

It's a great stand alone mold, regardless what name is applied to the mold. i'm still going to be buying this toy.

I would have preferred that Hasbro called the 2010 highbrow toy by a different homage name. perhaps a TF chatacter that looked more like the designs at least in alt mode.

He's not really a part of the ROTF line.

But aside from the propellers, nothing about him really screams Highbrow.

It's just a nameslap, not a homage whatsoever.

Last option for me. Toy looks cool and I'd be changing the name anyway.

Really don't see it as any sort of homage to the original Highbrow. Seems like the name was picked because they might have been facing the use it or lose it problem they have had with names.

More like a new character with enough movie elements and enough Classics elements to work the figure into different collections.

In name only, not an homage. I'll buy if it's a good toy.

Honestly, that's what I'm going to use him as. Unless we get a new Osprey Springer mold, he's going to be ROTF Springer.

Nope, not a G1 Highbrow homage. Clearly, like Bug Bite, Fracture, Deadlift and Reverb, he's another displaced Gobot refugee fleeing his crumbling universe and going by an alias. His real name is Bolt. ;)

I consider him a Pseudo-homage, myself. Sure, he looks nothing like the original Highbrow, but he does turn into a flying vehicle with two rotors in both G1 and new HftD figures and I'm thinking his bio is going to have him portrayed as an egotistical ass flaunting his inteligence over others, namely Lugnut. Also, that facesculpt makes me think he's a little British even though the alt. mode is 100% American, but that might be Animated Highbrow influence there. A closer homage would have a retooled Movie 1 Incinerator (with new head) as an homage, since the V-22 Osprey is close in design to Highbrow's original alt. mode. However, Incinerator kinda sucks because his entire gimmick (spinning propellers) causes 50% of his alt. mode to be on his back, so I'll take the improved P-38 mold anyday.

Nope. And that toy looks ugly as f*ck anyway, either way I'm going to pass.

Yeah I suspose it might have worked better named springer.

I was also thinking that helicopter transformer from the 1985 combaticons.

I was also thinking about that G-2 Helicopter basic sized toy.

Can't imagine it was in any way intended to be a Highbrow homage, just protecting a trademark.

Just an FYI, we have our own resources here  ; for example:

    Highbrow - 1987 Transformers - Transformers Resources
Highbrow - ROTF Main Line - Transformers Resources

To answer your inquiry, I don't think the intent of the figure is to completely homage the original, other than perhaps in a general sense (name and dual bladed aircraft).

This way the name is available when they DO a genuine homage of the G1 character.
