    Uh...I don't think I understand the question.

IDW's continuity is based on G1 continuity, with a few slight changes. Kind of like "Ultimate" series from Marvel. I believe IDW even calls its series G1 from time to time. By this definition, AHM is G1.

On the other side of the coin, G1 can be applied two 2 very specific continuities. One lasted about 90 issues in Marvel comics, and the other one started with a 3-part cartoon and concluded with Beast Machines. By this definition, AHM is not G1 because it is not in that continuity even though it takes place in a continuity just like it.

No I do not look at All Hail as being G1. And I don't think of the IDWverse as G1, and never did. It use G1 as a building block and a basis, but was a new outing from the start. Unlike Dreamwave which was G1 all the way.

IDW's comics feel more like the Armada/Energon/Cybertron or even RID. Plus sticking with G1 would be limiting, in that you would be restricted to only things directly connected to that incarnation of Transfomers.

I'm pretty sure that not even IDW considers it G1.

I mean, they don't seem to consider it canon anymore, so how could it be anything at all?

I'd call it "a" G1 continuity - just not the one from Sunbow TV, Marvel or Dreamwave.

IDW's mainline TF titles including but not limited to All Hail Megatron are G1ish, for obvious reasons., most of them characters & design. But it's not Generation 1. It's not even based as a jumping point from G1 like Dreamwave attempted to do (somewhat badly).

So it's not Generation 1, it's at best G1-ish. Events, characters, and lack of certain things makes this very clear.

Its G1, but not the SAME G1 as any of the other comics, or the series.

    It's G1... 100%.

Just because they're telling stories that weren't told before in the old comics or cartoons, doesn't mean it's not G1. G1 was never about the continuity (since there were several, and they often conflicted anyway)... it was about the characters and setting.

The original Cartoon is G1. The old Tech Specs are G1. The Marvel comics were G1 (US and UK). Dreamwave was G1. The TF battles that took place in my back yard when I was 10 years old are G1.

    AHM is definitely G1.

I don't read AHM, but I'd say if both the original cartoon and Marvel comic are G1, then All Hail Megatron (or Dreamwave, or earlier IDW, or the different GI-Joe crossovers) can be G1 as well.

Yeah I'm not clear on how it can't be G1. It's all the same characters isn't it?

Yes, with the same designs as G1 standards. Soundwave is a cassette deck, Optimus is a semi, the Dinobots are the Dinobots, and the Seekers all transform into jets. G1 all the way and great for it.

But which versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron are they using?

RiD? No... Armada? No... Energon? No... Cybertron? No...

    So go on... which versions?

    Of course it's G1.

It's a different take on the G1 characters.

Just like the TV series and the Marvel comics were very different, but were both still G1.

Of course it's G1 - how can anyone argue against that?

It uses the Transformers characters and broad situations/personalities from the 1984-1990/91 Transformers franchise which has now been dubbed "G1", therefore... it's G1.

Oh sure, you may not like it, don't consider it your "true G1 Transformers" but that's kind of not the question.

People might not like the Ladybird Transformers series (personally, I love these) or the Big Looker books, or the cartoon (like me!) or the comics, or particular issues/episodes etc etc

    But it's ALL G1.

    So there!

Of course it bloody is! I don't even see how "no" can have that many votes. It's not the G1 cartoon or the G1 comics, but it's the same characters in *A* G1 universe.

Why does the series need labeled as G1? Serioulsy.
If it really needs done, then I prefer it as G1 more than the actual G1 Marvel comics. The story is fun, the characters are involved, nothing is black and white and the Decepticons are actually smart.
Also, the characters are based off of the Universe and Classics toys. Heck, the Seekers are the MP figures!
