I'm going to ask this in both the Prime and the game forums. I'm curious what the popular opinion on this hotly debated dead horse is.

Mods if it's a no-no to double post like this feel free to merge/delete one of them.

I don't know if it's a no-no, the thing for me is that it really shouldn't be a debate. Hasbro, the owner of the IP has said that it is so that's that. They have the final say in the matter and they have spoken. Now, as for whether or not we like this or agree with it, THAT could be debated, but at the end of the day what they say goes.

Having said that, I personally think they match up about as much as Star Wars and My Little Pony but hey.

The Cybertron games are prologues to G1/Beast Wars and Prime.

They are an intensely fleshed-out reboot of the origin story.

They borrow many things from Prime, such as the history between Orion Pax and Megatronus, and the design for the Nemesis, but at the same time it's different. For example, we don't see Bulkhead or Arcee at all, yet they're prominent in the Prime series. I'd say it's the same, but fuzzy.

Negative, FOC, like WFC felt very G1 to me.

If it was they need to make a few other games to fill in the gaps. Furthermore, Where's Arcee and Bulkhead then?

I do not think the two are related. Along with all the reasons others have pointed out. One main reason for me is why in season 2 of TF Prime
when Megatrons ship came to life, why didn't he acknowledge it as being Trypticon?
Also Soundwave talked in the game, he doesn't talk on the show

nope. WFC/FOC is the starting point for all continuities. not just Prime. HMS simply used a few aspects and looks from Prime just because they liked them

Similar but not really the same continuity you think megatron would remeber turning
    trypticon into the nemisis

They are not connected. In the flashback prime episode showing orion pax, and cybertron optimus neither look at all liike foc or wfc optimus. In the latest flashback ep showing shockwave he looks nothing like the foc or wfc version other than the shape of the upper body. The head and ears, arms, legs, and even wings on the back all look different. Even starscream and soundwave on cybertron still look like their prime selves nothing at all like wfc or foc versions.
The whole dark energon thing is another contradiction. In wfc it was synthetic and only starscream knew how to make more with megatron already chasing after it and using it in the story. In prime it's the stuff of legend at the beginning not synthetic but the blood of unicron, megatron has never used it and starscreams afraid of it and tells megatron not to inject himself with it because it was unknown what would happen. In the lattest ep with cliffjumper near the end he does mention a mission he had at the sea of rust, but he also mentions getting seperated from his squad which I would take to mean more than two bots namely him and jazz like in the foc mission. Usually when referring to two teammates they are referred to as partners in prime, squad sounds like its ment to imply many soldiers.

Are you kidding? Even I noticed all the plot holes! For one, Arcee and Cliffjumper destroyed the space bridge, when in FOC, it was Grimlock who did it. Also, during the time when the space bridge was destroyed, Starscream was rogue (in FOC). Also, the space bridge itself was vastly different. There's more too, if that isn't enough for you.

The looks doesn't mean shit, but it was still a reference.

Yes it was a reference, but it was only a reference (in the way that Animated has alot of G1 references). Also, not only did the space bridge look different, it functioned differently as well. The Prime bridge was something on the ground you walk into, the FOC bridge was something in high orbit over Cybertron that was meant for entire ships to fly through.

That's much more than just looks.

No, they are similar but distinct different continuities.

And if you look up the word 'align', that's pretty much what it means. So in that regard, no- Hasbro never said that they are connected.

It's still the same basic plot, Shockwave reinvented the Spacebridge in/on his tower.

Whether or not they're in the same universe doesn't matter to me. I like to consider them separate. :)
