I'm going to ask this in both the Prime and the game forums. I'm curious what the popular opinion on this hotly debated dead horse is.

Mods if it's a no-no to double post like this feel free to merge/delete one of them.

Despite the obvious continuity differences, I'm fine with FoC being a Prime prequel. Of course, I'm also fine with it being a G1 prequel as well.

No, FOC had nods to Prime and Prime had nods to FOC dialog and design wise but that's about it.
The story felt more in the Generation one continuity then anything.

You know what I'd like to see happen?

I want a list showing exactly what one would need to change about WFC and FOC to make it in-continuity with Prime or G1. A list of every major continuity fix that would need to occurr to make it feasible as a prequel to either continuity.

Once that's done, we can measure whether Prime or G1 requires more continuity fixes, and go from there.

One big thing would be to change what Matt Tieger said when he flat out said the games were based on a G1 story. He's said that of War and Fall.

No. They share ideas from the ALIGNED continuity, but they are not direct prequels or sequels to each other. The game bears similarity to the series because that's what all series made under the aligned continuity will do.

-Aligned Continuity=an encyclopedia of ideas that dictate inspiration for Transformers
-Prime and FOC=stories that use the Aligned Continuity as a source

They are NOT the same story. Or trying to be part of the same story. They merely seem that way because they're using the same base of information to inspire themselves.

No. Too many continuity differences. And the writers aren't even completely trying to make it match up. I'll give that they're in the same continuity family like the G1 cartoon and the G1 comics, but the same direct continuity? No way in hell.

They share similar plot devices, but are ultimately different continuties. FoC leans more towards G1, while Prime is a whole new animal.

I believe I have well established my opinion on the subject, but I'll leave this here too.

I believe both series are apart of the same Universal Cluster (I have decided to call it the Aligned Cluster) and that is why they share similarities, but are not directly connected. Of course, Hasbro won't give this a single thought.

Well FOC being tied to G1 is a little weird. It kind of doesn't fit. I mean the Dinobots were built on Earth in G1, same goes with the Combaticons, Bumblebee has a voice, Orion Pax was a dock worker not a librarianAlso the dark energon thing in WFC was never in or talked about in G1. I feel like WFC and FOC will become it's own continuity..

    Nope.

Had Hasbro, HMS, and the TFP staff came together and worked as one, and used the TFP models and voice actors, I would of said yes.

But the characters act different, look different, and sound different. WFC/FoC to me is more like a pre G1 series then a pre TFP series. We have seen the pre war images of Prime, Megatron, and Soundwave on the series before, they don't look anything like we have in the game series.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint. It's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff."

That's the best way I can put the continuity between the two.

I think FOC/WFC and prime are like the g1 cartoon and the marvel comics, they're both called g1 but are 2 distinct universes
