I mean keep the original audio such as the voice actors just change the video like 3D or something.
No. Might as well make something completely fresh *but* in continuity. There's really no reason to retread old ground so completely. With that logic everything old should be remade. It's wishful thinking but it probably won't happen, and like I said, I'd rather something new. imo
I wouldn't mind a do-over...but I think keeping the old Audio might be a bit too much.
I would say YES. I've wanted to see some G1 eps ( with original voices and background music ) animated with this type of animation since I first saw that video.
No. the stories dont hold up that well today.
Not a good idea.
I say just fix animation mistakes, or just remake each episode with better art, but not change the story and lines.
Plus, the Soviet Union still exists in 2006? It was made in '86 and afictional cartoon, but still. Maybe things like that should be changed. Call the Soviet Union Russia and Carbombya Libya.
no, just make a new one, i've seen the original, make something fresh, totally fresh, like transformers wearing diapers or something, but with out the diapers.
I'd rather see a series in 3d that kept in the g1 continuity than have the original series get remade. Something like Beast Wars did, only using autobots and decepticons and some of the g1 characters. A 3d war within series would be really cool. Just redoing the animation with the old audio would be really bad though. Lets face it, the original cartoon didn't exactly have the best acting.
I think it would be cool if they could re-do G1 as Mattel did with He-man but the problem is that TF toys have evolved to such an extent that the basic gimmick of transforming (which was the original gimmick) may not be enough for the line.
re make of G1 ?!?
There is nothing wrong with the original
G1 is great as it is. I'd rather see something fresh and new.
I'd love to see one made that basically retells the G1 story, but keeps it in continuity. Give it more up-to-date references. Maybe even use the Classics line as a basis. Just giving it a new visual facelift just wouldn't suffice, IMO.
They worked in the '80's but wouldn't today.
I wouldn't mind seeing it so the animation was all uber high quality like some modern anime or something. (Not in style mind you.) But there's better things for them to put the effort into at this point.
I was going to say "No", until I saw that freakin' video you linked to. IMO, I don't think the dialogue would hold most kids' interest these days, but I would love to see G1 redone like that. Plus, maybe we'd get a decent G1 Ironhide out of the deal! (Or, maybe there's still hope for him in the Classics line).
That would work if you wanted a show that's a nonstop collage of "GIGA CONVOY! SUPER BLAST ATTACK CHARGE!" - "TURBO MEGATRON! BATTLE FIGHT DEATH SWORD STRIKE!" stock footage fight sequences.
Now have that animation actually carry over, like, EMOTIONS. In DIALOGUE SCENES. 'cuz, y'know, Transformers, unless we're talking about Scramble City-like OVAs, isn't just one giant battle scene.
Not interested. G1 episodes are only worth watching to me for nostalgia. They're just not very good, to be honest. Even the better ones are somewhat painful. Remove any element of them (like, say, all the animation) and that nostalgic quality that makes them remain somewhat watchable is gone, and with it any interest I'd have in watching them.
Can't wait for new G1
I think it's gonna be awesome. Looked and sounded cool after watching the bonus features from the 20th anniversary DVD. Transformers wouldn't even have legs to stand on without G1.
