its kinda weird to think of minicons as a seperate faction but they are. despite minicons being on both sides. ... do they have a supreme commander? highwire/perceptor seemed like he was the leader since he was something of a focal point. then theres leader-1 and sparkplug. they are could potentially be leaders as well becuase of who they are allied with. finally we have over-run who possesed a matrix, but ... the origin of which seems dubious. so ... did the minicon have a leader?
They have a leader-1, does that count? But seriously leader-1 was their leader (edit: at least of one village) before the Autobots and Decepticons started goin all "gotta catch em all!"
Well, heh, Unicron, technically. The Mini-Cons don't do a lot of organizing in the cartoon - they often tend to rally around High Wire/Perceptor, which makes sense as they were the first Mini-Cons to develop sentience beyond what Unicron intended for them through their exposure to the humans millions of years ago. But we do know that they got organized in the past and willingly joined with the Autobots, and since Sparkplug joined with Optimus Prime, that might suggest he has a high-ranking guy. In the Armada comics, they definitely don't, because the comics play factions differently, with the Autobots just being the police force of Cybertron, the Decepticons being insurgents, and pretty much everyone else, Mini-Cons included, just being civilians. Once they were on Earth, Dualor positioned himself as leader of a Mini-Con society he tried to build on the moon, but it didn't turn out so well for him. There was also Over-Run, who came from another dimension, but turned himself into a "spiritual leader" of sorts for the Mini-Cons in the gap between Armada and Energon.
I always think of Over-Run as the leader... I think the final Perceptor repaints bio (that seems to be pretty rare), that team seems to lead together...
So what I'm getting is "no not really." but they have villages with leaders but no unified leader. very interesting!
How are they a separate faction? They're just a type of Cybertronian chassis. They're essentially just midgets.
Mini-Cons were always treated as a separate faction in the Unicron Trilogy. They had different origins, they had their own faction symbol, and they were a third column actively pursued by the Autobots and Decepticons. They *allied* themselves with both sides (or were forced into servitude), but they were their own faction. THESE DAYS, the name has spread to simply mean "tiny Cybertronian", with no real factional meaning, but that's not how it was originally.
The classics line introduced modus Prime as the first and leader of the minicons created by The Last Autobot the transformers alligned universe, which is the Prime series, the WFC and FOC games, and novels also show that one of the original 13 transformers was Minicon prime, the first minicon and arctype for the rest
Well, that's not his NAME, he's just "a Mini-Con Prime". Also, that's reminded me that in the Aligned continuity, Ratbat is the Mini-Con representative on the Autobot High Council before the war, so he could be considered a leader there.
werent 2 of the othe cassettes on that counsil as well? Modus Prime huh? oh wait! the prime/bumblebee looking minicon! Id like for some micromaster vs minicon action too. ... I love minicons. especially the triple changers. so back to point! I guess being a faction split across 2 factions would result in multiple leaders or figure heads then? the little guys are so simple yet so complex....
Was that the UK Armada comics? I have a vague recollection of Rad being kidnapped by MiniCons or something and taken to their base on the Moon.
No, that was the Dreamwave stuff. But with both being written by Furman, there were very obviously similar elements in both, like how Dualor and the Destruction Team powerlinked to Cyclonus and used him as a rage-puppet in both series.
