do the idw transformer one-shots fit in with the regular series?

as in stormbringer, escalation, etc. I've read those, but none of the spotlights, and was wondering if they fit in the same canon. thanks!

They most certainly do and IMO you get more out of the regular series if you read them (not to mention that I consider the Shockwave and Kup Spotlights as two of the best issues that IDW have put out).

I won't give too much away but as an example the Shockwave book covers the origin of Ore 13 :) .

The art on the Nightbeat one is quite off -but the story is top notch.
IDW gives their artists a lot of freedom, but I didn't care for the style on that one.

You really should read the Spotlights. I have found every one to be worth the cover price -especially the Shockwave issue.

Yeah, Nightbeat and Hot Rod have joined the main cast, so their one-shot stories may come into play. The Soundwave spotlight is starting to come into play, and I expect followup to the events of the Ultra Magnus spotlight will come into play shortly. And like the others have said, the Shockwave is the mother of all spotlights.

I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the idw transformers art. the stories have been pretty good, I guess I should say that I liked the art in hearts of steel and stormbringer, but not the other ones. I REALLY really loved the story and art from the older dreamwave ongoing series that got canned at like issue 11 or 12.

Read any interview with Furman, and he'll be bragging about how smart his interweaving the stories are, and how these are the only descent G1 comics we'll get until the mainline series gets good.... in about five years!

Ive actually been enjoying the IDW transformers series, and I really really dig EJ Sus. (sp?) art work.

The price is killing me. other then that though I'm really enjoying the IDW transformers.

Not a fan of the IDW Transformers art, but the story is pretty neat. The spotlight issues are well worth the price, in my opinion. Honestly, though...I feel like you could afford to miss the Nightbeat issue and not be left in the dust entirely.

I just read all of the comics today, except I hadn't finished the newest kup one. boy, I'll say there's a lot in them! the nightbeat one was pretty weak, though.
