Hello,i have a question ,do Insecticons Bombshell,Shrapnel and Kickback really died in the movies 1986 or only the clones are die and become Sweeps by Unicron? i think they actually survive since they can clone themself ?
do you agree or disagree with me?
I saw Shrapnel in the movies in the Planet on Junk with Scavenger ,is this him or his clone?

    Thanks.

They insecticons died. You saw the character 'Animation Mistake'. He makes quite a few appearences in the G1 series.

Every single instance of G1 had animation mistakes. The same way how the entire AEC run had dubbing errors.

I'm just throwing this out there to instantly answer the next question.

If you die and your clone survives, you yourself have still failed to survive. It amazes me, how many people can't get this right.

The thing about the G1 cartoon is that it's full of animation errors and plot holes which when questioned will get you nowhere, so your only option is to take it for what it is.

I'm sure he understands that. I think he's asking if the "original" insecticons died or just the clones.

Fact is no one can really answer this question with a 100% degree of certainty.

Every time we saw any of them in the rest of the film or in season 3 may have been an error, which I find very likely, or it could have been by intent.

The error may have been in not making it clear that it was clone that died. .

Really, the "clones" explanation is one fans cooked up to try and explain the goof away - the Insecticon clones never displayed the ability to transform to robot mode in all their various appearances (of course, that doesn't mean they CAN'T do so, but it seemed a pretty deliberate choice). On top of that, it was beams from Shrapnel that sustained the existence of the clones, so if the real Insecticons died, the clones would cease to exist. Further, the appearances of the Insecticons in the third season aren't just simple animation errors, like them appearing for crowd-filler scenes would be: they get a dedicated scene in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1" that would have to have called for them by name in the script, and Shrapnel's voice can be heard for a in "Fight or Flee", complete with his characteristic repetition (although Soundwave is animated speaking it). Most signs point to parts of season 3 being written off the back of an earlier draft of the movie's script, before the feature was finalized, which involved the sparks of ancient Decepticons becoming Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps, meaning there was no obstruction to using the Insecticons in episodes at the time. Similarly, Shrapnel appeared on Junkion in that draft, but when the plot was changed so that he was one of the Decepticons booted into space, his Junkion appearance didn't get removed.

Personally I think it's hard to call them an animation mistake when they actually have dialogue.

I think they sent their clones to get reformatted, and went into hiding somewhere with lots of food

Spock's little known about clone. He first appeared in an obscure Diane Duane or Vonda McIntyre novel, can't remember which :lol
