No, all cops do not abuse their "power". Some of the finest individuals I know are in law enforcement.

There are several board members who's full time jobs are law enforcement. Megamus is a friend of mine who lives locally and is a deputy Sheriff.

I'll put in a second good word for Megamus.

Do ALL of any sort of group conform to any standard? Why are you trying to work with an absolute?

My best friend is a cop and I say, what good is having power if it can be abused from time to time?

I work as a Loss Prevention Officer, I work undercover to catch shoplifters. I deal with local Police or County Sheriffs on a daily basis. No. Not every cop abuses their power. Not even any kind of majority.

In fact, I caught a 29 year old homeless heroin addict stealing food from my store. We call PD and a cop shows up, takes his info and our paperwork, talks to the guy for a bit, and then goes across the street to the McDonalds to buy him food because he hadn't eaten in a day.

Don't do illegal shit, and you shouldn't have a problem with Law Enforcement.

Some do, some don't... Same as anything else. But IMO it's a rude statement to make.

I'm just venting because this will be the 3rd time I have been pulled over for the same thing and it just seems like from my run-ins that there is no argueing with them. If they pulled you over, your breaking the law and thats that! even after explaining the situation, they wont admit there wrong and still give's me the ticket even though I could feel his partner was hesitant. He even gave me snarky remarks like "we'll you wont win it this time" :mad

I get pulled over all the time, straight exhaust on a 650 horsepower 427. I rarely get tickets, $70 noise ordinance at the worst and almost every cop has been cool. Sometimes they yell at me, sometimes they check out my car, sometimes they threaten to take me to jail. In almost every case its deserved. I have never really met an A-hole cop. I have met some hypocrites that speed all the time, or did drugs when they retired, but never abused their power. I will say that every time I have met a cop with a bad attitude it has been a female cop. Holy shit overcompensating much?!?! Is it necessary to speak to me or my wife in such a manner? I kind of understand because if a man decided to drop the hammer they would be screwed, but my wife and I don't look like hoodlums that would give a cop shit.

There is always some idiots that go through the system and should not been able to wear the badge in the first place. this is seen however on every workplace not only the police.

Some ppl get drunk on power. This has been proven in diffrent experiements like the one with the prisoners and guards.

Yes you will always have assholes as a cop but that is the same situation as any other place.. accept it and stay out of trouble and you dont need to deal with them.

I've met some VERY nice cops, but I've also met some very mean ones as well. It depends. But just like everything else, the bad apples stick out more.

But seeing what they have to deal with every day, you'd be a dick too :p
