Because they've done such terrible things with Pixar, The Muppets and Marvel? You know, helping all three franchises stay strong and popular and high quality and all that. Chances are, if Disney is buying them, then those franchises are already in trouble and being added to Disney's marketing roster could do nothing but help. Disney buying those would mean more exposure, more merchandise and a general revival for all the big names that come along with the company. Seriously, to be perfectly honest, it doesn't seem to be all that bad to be owned by Disney.
Disney has done good with Marvel and Pixar even though they gave us Hannah Montana and all those tween pop sitcom stuff. Their's also some good with a bad.
They wouldn't really need to. They already have a relationship with McDonalds, which provides them with a boatload of marketing for the properties they want to push, and that's the primary use of a fast food joint for Disney. It probably wouldn't be worth the effort for them in learning how to run a restaurant chain and integrate it into their business plan so they could capitalize on profits the food generates.
This would actually be extremely awesome (assuming they turned the vehicle modes into normal cars without eyes or mouths, so they fit in with mainline figures). I'd really love a Finn McMissile Transformer. For Disney TFs, a TRON crossover (TRONsformers?) would also be really awesome.
... YES. Yes! YES! PLEASE, GOD, YES, PLEASE. That would only be one of the coolest things ever. I can see it now... A transforming Gummi ship, a keyblade that has a matrix hilt and autobot symbol keychain. And an alternate keyblade with an alternate coloration to make it look like the dead matrix and a Decepticon symbol keychain. Donald and Mickey could assume their disney label transformers as a character model... My God, that is a thing of beauty.
This was my guess as well, I was about to post it when I saw this. I was surprised that they bought out Marvel because Marvel was financially very sucessful. DC comics is the one in financial trouble despite the Dark Knights success so I can also see them buying out DC comics and giving them an almost monopoly on superheroes. Don't count the hub out though as a possibility, especially if the rumors are true about the trouble they are in.
They actually no longer have that relationship with McDonalds as they have also gotten rid of all Mcdonalds inside their theme parks. They do have a small contract with Hasbro though via Toy Story and Mr. Potato Head they have a series of Disney Mr. Potato Heads and are allowed to sell (and profit from) Mr Potato head sales inside their park. Most recently that was in Imagineear Toys inside Disney California Adventure Park but construction has closed that store last week and a new location for the Mr. Potato head sales has yet to be announced.
Hey, they took on Chernabog! They took down the Hydra! And Cerebrus... And the giant killer xemnas-robot-dragon thing from KH2! And the big honking thingamoodoo from the KH1 finale... And Sora alone took out a thousand heartless... These guys have Unicron in the bag.
