It's been out for quite a while, but is anyone playing? Anyone else out there grinding Item levels out in another N1 game?

I finished it up some time ago, but only now am I really buckled down in ruling the after-world.

For those that know what the deal is, I spent last night playing and gaining Mao over 700 levels. The people cheating off of him gained upwards of 1000 levels.

For those that don't know, Disgaea is the most F'n number crunching RPG ever. You can Level-up your Leveling...

I've honestly considered buying a PS3 JUST for this game (any maybe... what is it Cross-Edge? the NiS vs Capcom thing)
seriously, between the first two games, over 1000 hours EACH.
Recently stared the PSP re-make of the 2nd.

Still waiting for a sequal, or at least remake of La Pucelle though...

You should buy it for the opening theme song alone.

    Hil-arious.

I heard cross-edge was not that good but I've never been one to base a game purchase on other peoples' opinions alone. I own both but I haven't gotten to playing either one yet

The saying goes that with Disgaea, you're not really playing the game until the after-story stuff.

If you haven't started it yet...

At any rate, you should give it a spin, if not just to play through the story (which is really fun).

I'd get it (and a PS3) myself if the UK got the downloadable content. I like the sound of some of the extra stuff.

I need to properly play the first two one of these days, and the rest of the N1 titles too. They're on my list of games to play.

Been playing the DS remake of #1 and just picked up #2 at Walmart for $5 which is a HELL of a value. Don't own a PS3 though, so maybe one day...

    Depends what you're looking for.

Old characters from Disgaea games past are available, but if you know who they are, then they'll be pathetically easy boss battles/captures. I didn't know who they were at the time, so I basically marched on person at a time out to Zetta and the rest, had them take their best attack, die, and sent out the next goon to try for damage. Now that I 'get' how to play Disgaea, I think Mao could kill them all in one hit.

There's an expansion story for Berryl. I want that, but haven't gotten it yet. I hear it's good.

Also, I believe that there is a 2-player battle mode or something to that effect. I won't touch that. Disgaea is meant to be played alone, in the dark, while listening to the Cure (for irony sake).

I finally got it yesterday but can't play it until tomorrow, too busy with study. Looking forward to it though!

I finally finished the House of Ordeals.

Mao is around Lv 1000 and my Cleric/Monk/Thief is also around Lv 1000.

Now I'm working towards obtaining a Puppy Paw Stick. Oh, and moving my Moth monster towards a 6th Generation Genius Reincarnation.

That...sounds like a lot of Gibberish.

Advice? Play through the main story game without power-leveling.

It'll become a joke real fast if you don't.

IE: Big Bang = +5,000 levels for striking character & +500 levels for surrounding classmates.

Compare to the fact that most people beat the game with Mao being around Level 80.

Juuuuust a bit o' comparison there.

First impressions - what a bizarre game it is, its so japanesy and beyond. I love it.

Also there is so much DLC. can you play the DLC and use the new characters at any time or only once the main game is done?

I have no idea what you just said but I get the jist. Power levelling is bad, cheers for the tip :D

Well...no, power leveling is absolutely necessary...post game.

If you want to play the story and feel like you're learning the game at the same time, don't power level until you beat it.

Then get to boosting as hard as you can.

The "Real" game is post game, but the story is during the normal run.
