Though I liked the issue does anybody all think that this is kind of some lame final fantasy 7 rip off?
I'm totally getting a vibe of Drift/Wind equals Zack/Cloud.

Just from what I'm seeing her I can already bet solid money on the idea that Wind is dead meat, probably at the hands of Turmoil, and Drift will take up his weapons and swear revenge. It seams like a waste to set up this third faction if they just get wiped out at the end of this series so I hope that doesn't happen

How much is this issue supposed to be worth?

 

I think it's kind of ridiculous that Drift shrugs off being shot by THREE DUDES, presumably by the same lasers that blew up Autobots in one shot.

 

I'm surprised Shane could show that much restraint, to limit it to only three guys.

 

Eh, I dunno, I didn't have any issue differentiating the characters by the end. It was kinda simple:

Drift: Blue Optics
Wing: Orange Optics
Medi-bot: Red cross on chest

Not a bad first issue. Good enough to keep me interested for the next as most said. Deadlock was shown to be acting very Mary Sue-ish at the beginning but I like how they just stomped that into the ground not to long after....literally.

 

Why does everyone keep calling him Wind? Only two people in this thread got Wing's name right? It ain't Jhiaxus or anything...

 

Because he'll probably bite it by issue #3 so nobody bothered to learn his name   Probably people just misread/misremembered his name.

No. Wing is Wing. He's a character from Victory.

I'd have expected THE Wing to be smaller. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Wingwaver just about normal size. I feel like an idot for missing that, I'm currently rewatching Victory (for the third time).

Edit: Wrong again, Wing's a tiny little guy. I'm guessing he has the ability to become Wingwaver like in Victory.

 

It never crossed my mind that Wing could be the micromaster from Victory, if so then McCarthy really knows his stuff. Right now I don't think it is but I'll make sure to have it asked over on the IDW boards.

 

Ill never get down with idw for persnipetor but making g2 redshirts goes someway to amending that.

 

Pros: the Cult of the Cyber-Ninjas! (Admitedly this could be brought over from Animated into the IDW-verse. Wonder if any of those bots are named Yokitron)

Con: Deadlock's just a MESS of colors and rude bits. I would rather they had just put Drift's head onto a Seeker body with Drift's colors. He looks like Shatered Glass Drift. (Probably already planing a repaint release of Drift as Deadlock at Botcon next year.)

Also I don't like how similar Drift and Wing are in terms of design. Huge, jet engine nacelles on the shoulder? Check and check.

As far as Drift shrugging off 3 shots durring his escape? Let me take a shot at this: Since he was being interogated by Turmoil after a mission. Perhaps standard opperating proceedures on Decepticon warships (or Turmoil's ship) is to turn in heavy-asault weapons when off duty (that Armory is their for a reason, and not everyone sleeps with their rocket launcher) Obviously Turmoil is one of those Con's with built in weapons and he'd already ordered Deadlock be stripped of weapons. So with Turmoil stunned and the cons standing around, perhaps only one or two cons were able to get a hand on a side arm and give chase.

Figures it was the un-known Decepticon Peashooter, who couldn't give a human a sunburn.

Yeah, and Imperial Stormtroopers are expert marksmen.

 

I know of Wing and Landcross from Victory but I don't know much about Victory or any Japanese shows.

Simply digging out an obscure character for fanservice doesn't mean he "knows his stuff."
