I watched the movie again last night (for the first time since it came out on DVD, can you believe it?) and I caught another risqué, dirty play-on-words that I've never actually heard so much as one other fan talk about.

It happens at the 1 hour, 18 minute mark, when John Turturro and the Sector Seven guys arrive at Sam's house. Sam's mom remarks that they are outside in the garden and they she runs up with a baseball bat and screams:

"They gotta get their hands off my bush!"

Off all the fans I heard complaining about the stupid, pre-pubescent teen humour in the film, I never heard anyone mention that line. Did it just slip by most people? She does say it while some other people are talking, and it could be easily missed...

I'm fairly sure anyone who watched the movie caught onto that.

That's not really a dirty joke as much as it is a lame double-entendre. It's no different than Megan's car engine dialogue talking about injecting fluids to make it go faster, etc.

This kind of "Three's Company" stuff is where bad writers think they're being clever since it can be taken in the literal sense as much as the poorly disguised innuendo they actually intended. It's your basic "How To Be A TV Writer" template, with the only difference being that these TV writers got into movies and are on par with Bay's standard for what passes as witty comedy.

What I want to know is why the hell is the "I wanna ride you home" line funny when right after he says "Give you a ride home" which sounds like the same thing or just as suggestive?

And in fact I don't know why either of them would make for a joke because people say that they are going to ride people home all the time and no one thinks about sex. What would that even mean? Are they going to have sex on the street and flop all the way home while copulating? :p

I know why they used it but that line was always weird.

Wow, if you don't know what "Ride you home" means you need to think about it just a bit longer. :)

But you missed the point of the joke. He (Sam) screwed up his words and it sounded like unuendo, but he didn't mean to say it. That's what made it funny.

No, YOU! I don't have to think about it any longer. I got the joke, I understand why the line was used and why the second one was used that followed it. If I think about it anymore it will.......*head explodes* damnit, see what you did now!?

Yep- caught it- and the other dirty jokes, but watching it in the theatres and having your son ask you what just happened (most of the theatre laughing), made it more funny- especially when the guy next to him looked over to see how I was going to explain it..."Later" is usually a good. Answer- 4 or 5 more years later .
