DirecTV Drops Versus Crippling NHL Viewership | IshTalkers
That's harsh. Going from ESPN to Versus was a major drop, and now parts the people who had Versus in the US might not even get access to it.
ouch for those who watch those sports i do not so this has little effect on me even though i have Dish
That would suck. I watch my Indycars on Versus.
That suck for the Hunting shows on VS.
I work for DISH and we carry VS. Were also getting a channel called "NFL Red Zone". Its going to show you the games when the teams are on the 20 yard line and getting ready to score. Dish is getting really aggressive with the channel lineups. I would seriously keep an eye out for a certain channel that just may transform what provider you use. ;-) also, go to youtube and search CES 922. Nuff said.
Ouch! I use to watch World Combat League on that channel till it went into a a very long hiatus. Wonder what will happen to that sport now since it was only being aired on Versus? I'm sad.
When I switch services, it will be from DirecTV to Fios when it's available (likely next year).
Just keep in mind that at any time they could make a deal and put the channel back up on DirecTV.
Problem with NFL Red Zone is that you have to subscribe to the $6 sports pack to get it. It's great for them to offer it. What about BBC HD? When are they going to add that? Maybe today.
Absolutely they could. But with Versus being owned by Comcast, the two rivals have been at each others throats for awhile now. I'm curious if either will blink on this.
wow, i never realized you guys only had one channel for nhl games. weird.
If I had Comcast cable, I would get Comcast Sportsnet. However, since I have DirecTV, I don't get Comcast sportsnet, meaning I don't get 80% - 90% of all Flyers games. Towards the end of the season NBC will have a game a week, unless they deem something else more important. With Versus, I am guaranteed 1 - 4 games a week.
I have Comcast so this doesn't affect me but does Direct TV offer NHL Center Ice packages? I ask because I'm moving in with the in-laws next year and they have Direct TV. But I will NOT be without my Chicago Blackhawks and Buffalo Sabres games
For those that don't know the NHL has a lot of local deals with teams. This is the national Cable deal. Which is a lot of games. But it would be like losing TSN in canada. You miss out on a ton of games but many of your local teams games are on another network.
Jeez, that sucks. I barely got to see any games last season with Vs. Now I'll have to settle for the occasional disastrous NBC broadcast, which will probably be all Pens games (no offense to Pens fans, I just like a little variety).
How will I watch my Sabres embarrass themselves this season!?
That sucks, but what does the NHL expect with all their Lockouts/Strikes.
I boycotted Comcast when they pre-empted the Curling Championships for a Scrabble tournament.
The NHL has a way of making every year seem like the league's last and Comcast just seems to love putting the nails in the coffin for em...
They do offer the Center Ice package. If I could even remotely afford it, I would get it.
The six people that watched the NHL through Versus are undoubtedly suffering through this.
