I remember a few years ago reading on the alt.music.sonic-youth news groups when Sonic Youth's gear was stolen when a theif made off with their van. Well the same shitty luck has happened to J. Mascis and company. This is truly unfortunate, Dinosaur Jr is one of my favorite bands and seeing them on their reunion tour at the TLA a few years ago was one of my all time favorite concerts. SY played Austin a matter of days after their gear got stolen in '99. That was a huuuge deal as we're talking about dozens of guitars and amps, specifically tuned and tweaked to sound like, well, Sonic Youth. Dinosaur Jr.'s gear being stolen probably isn't quite as catastrophic, but still royally sucks. Hope they get it back. Fucking dickless thieves, man.
I'm actually seeing Sonic Youth tomorrow at the Allentown Fair. They're opening for Ween and the Flaming Lips. I can't wait to hear some of the new songs from Rather Ripped live, should be a good show
Fuck. I hope this doesn't remove them from the line up for a big festival in Montreal this weekend. I'm making the drive, primarily just to see Dinosaur Jr.
