Outside the film, production info states Dino/Mirage was made Italian to fit his Italian automobile mode, sanctioned by the Ferrari Company.

Within the film, it would have been an excellent opportunity to showcase Mirage's background as a former upper-class noble of Cybertron. It would be comparable, perhaps, to the many royal Italian families that were present in the 18th century which faded into obsolescence, as portrayed in THE LEOPARD.

LOL But that'd have been too much for a film, though it'd be perfect for a tie-in comic (which most of the ROTF cast got). For most of us seeing Dino bring knives to a gunfight serves as enough. Still, it would have made an interesting oppurtunity...

I think Mirage was always an upper class guy anyway.

You're asking for characterization from a character who had barely any more screen time than Jolt did, and I can't remember if he even had a line in DOTM. I have to ask; does anybody other than you actually care about that in ANY kind of way whatsoever? Or is this just you trying to keep the movie forum alive with random questions that don't really need to be answered?

In G1 he was, I know that much.

I like the idea of him being an upper-class noble type of character.

Well, I can't speak for the OP, but I, for one, enjoy backstories for all characters, even minor ones. I think this is actually one of the better threads in the Movie forum these days (not that that's saying much).

    I'll save SBlackout the trouble.

First line, said when he threatens the guards: "On the ground, per favore, and stay there!"

Second line, said when Mearing confronts Optimus: "He's in a bad mood. No talking to anybody today."

Third line, when he snagged Hatchet on the freeway: "Got you! Hahahaha!"

While I agree with the idea that backstories make any character, no matter how minor, have a stronger foothold in the associated fiction, the OP was wanting to use Mirage/Dino to introduce an entrie class of Cybertronians that would have no actual bearing on the present day plot since Cybertron was more or less uninhabitable for millions of years prior to the first movie.

Huh. I didn't notice the first and third ones, and I thought Ironhide said the second one for some reason.

Would this have been cool to see in a tie-in comic or a animated spin-off or something? Yeah, sure. But in the live-action films? No. It would be nigh pointless.

*sigh* Pretty much this. QRLformer's just trying to keep this baby afloat until more solid TF4 news comes around. Your efforts are appreciated, QRLformer, if a bit misguided.

Yes, comics about Dino (like in series Tales of the Fallen) will be very interesting!

His accent pretty much made it obvious. Can't top that.

...that he was Italian, yes. But QRLformer wants a "noble hierarchy" background as well.

Ah. Now that was never even suggested in any movie material. Would be interesting though.

Yes. They basically pick an accent and manner of speaking, and go with it.

I thought the same thing. I mean he's practically any Italian nobleman from the Renaissance. XD
