I don't post a lot of pics of my collection, but thought this was worthy. I recently AFA'd my Dinocassettes and thought folks might enjoy seeing them. They'll likely be for sale (along with the rest of my Japanese G1 collection) at or just prior to Botcon this year.
Greatness! How can you stand keeping them in their boxes though? Don't tell me you have loose ones as well...?!
Sold my MIB/loose set a few years ago. Normally I don't AFA stuff, but as toys I find them pretty dull, so I figured it might be worthwhile to go ahead and preserve them. EDIT: Wow, thanks for all the PM's, everybody. It's going to be a few months before I'm ready to sell anything.
I've never had anything graded before, but if i'm not mistake, you can't take those out of there , now can you ? How sure are you that the Cassettes are in there ? LOL
I don't know much at all about AFA but I find it interesting that you got the one graded with the price sticker still on it. I guess that's better than taking the chance that there will be residue/tearing? Great items by the way. Wish I was that lucky.
My wife made the same comment! By the way, your collection is stunning. Frequently Asked Questions Typically the price sticker won't affect the grade. Gurafi pulled a 70 due to a bit of damage on the top flap (you can see it in the picture). I was very happy with the 85, 80, and 80 the others got. Thanks for the kind words - these guys aren't as rare as people make them out to be, but they're definitely a unique part of TF history.
Thanks man ..... but I've always been paranoid about getting something graded , especially if it's a boxed thing without a window to see the actual Product..... Which ofcourse since you've seen my collection , is why I'm a Loose collector , plus it's always been cheaper to buy Loose figures then sealed ones that are old.... you know ? LOL
Strangely enough, I'm a loose collector as well... but found it difficult to get pristine Japanese G1 without buying them boxed. I've opened quite a few of them, much to the chagrin of MISB collectors, I'm sure. I've only got a few other things I could have graded, and am not planning on it. These seemed definitely worthy of preservation, though.
ive done the same. i do not regret cutting the tape on any of the japanese items that were misb. some of them couldve been graded as well. i noticed more people are selling off their japanese items or parts of their collections. it kinda scares me cause i thought of this as well. cash out not while they are worth $$$ or sell when im older and they can be worthless lol. good luck with your sales! would you have a jr grand max and a jr god bomber armour i can call dibs on please! the last 2 bits i need to finish the japanese collection.
Love these guys, wish i had then in my collection. But have to say, should have left them out, their awsome bots.
