This is my first (of many) collaborations with another artist. I was lucky enough to have JAF (of sector70) add incredible articulation to *good* condition Dinobots I picked up across the boards and on ebay.

You'll find larger and more images of these guys, including group shots later this week on my website (click my banner)

The golden color was a challenge to hit, but I am happy with the overall palette. I created duplicate sets of the stickers on illustrator and created water slide decals, which you can see throughout the custom(s)

Thanks to JAF and the fan who commissioned the project. Definitely gonna revisit this project one day and take it to the ultimate level be having them combine

Anyway, Here's Sludge! (this is gallery 3 of 5)

It's so surprising how a paint job can spruce it right up.

I kind of miss the opaque/gold look that the G1 Dinobots' heads and tails had, and I wish you had gold leafed what you had painted yellow instead, like what you did for your MP Grimlock...

I suppose this applies to all of them, but this is just the first threat I noticed.

In any event, you've still done a great job. Everything looks very cartoon accurate and clean. Well done, and thanks for sharing, F_R.

The longer legs in dino-mode are a very cool addition. Makes the dino looks more like a modern-day dinosaur then Sludge did 25 years ago.

Mine too, in fact my only Dinobot - I could never afford Grimlock as a kid.

Big soft spot for old Sludgee. Not sure about his new waist though. Something not quite right...?

Good job on the colors here. Looks like you guys went for the cartoon aesthetic over the toy. Very cool.

    Thanks guys

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks Alty

For sure, thanks. I looked at the original's pics, it needed some help.

What do you mean? too thin? he's a tricky guy to stuff all the robot parts in dino mode.

Not sure, I will ask him to swing by + see if he can elaborate a bit.

    Do it!

    Thanks!

I took Sludge's existing bot arm and rotated the hinge 90 degrees. Then some styrene elbow extensions enabled the whole thing to go together. I just re-pinned it in the new direction. Doing this required the rear legs to be heightened for the sake of proportion since the forearms no longer fold inward. Ptitvite had the same front leg issue with his Sludge (which was used as a starting point for this FYI).

Part of the challenge for me is to use as much of the original figure's parts as possible. they can be chopped up and highly modded, but using the original parts keeps a consistency in the build.

Anyhow, thanks for checking them out!
