I went to a Japanese steak house-Mikata- with a female friend and we order. eyes being like they are and they keep it so that night vision goggles are appropros, i scan the hibachi menu and see that the prices go up as i scan down. so i order a steak meal, guessing it is like 16.95 and i am talking away with my friend. i got my bill and i see it is for 54 dollars and change. tip not yet added. i had accidentally ordered the Kobe beef. i paid for it, since i ate it, but i was so red from embarrassment. oddly enough, this was the same woman that years back, right after high school, i took her on a date to a small restaurant and with 50 dollars in the wallet, i didn't have enough money to cover the tip- and that was after we ordered the cheapest entrees on the menu. she is either a jinx at dinner or i am a klutz. any one else mess up like this in an eatery?
It is MIKATA. and the embarrassing part was me trying to do something i couldn't in a dimly lit place and didn't ask for help and wound up with (to answer your question) really nice, medium well kobe beef. 54 bucks is a lot to pay for pride, ya know. and it has been a while, but my first Japanese steak house ever was a KOBE in Birmingham. even the tofu rocked.
Yeah, I still don't get it. You're embarrassed for ordering something expensive without knowing and didn't ask for help in reading the menu? If so, I don't really seeing as that's embarrassing.
The only way I mess up in a eatery is by not eating all my food. Nah man, always bring more than enough money, espicially on a date.
I believe he has some eyesight problems which when combined with the dimly lit restaurant made the menu difficult to navigate.
