I've got a side project "left over" stemming from my Nemesis Rampage project
I'm doing a head swap with Alt Grimlock & Alt Rodimus.
Rodimus head looks great (IMO) on the stang. Only problem is, it's missing something.
I figure some racing stripes will do the trick, but I can't settle on a layout.
Here are the 2 idea's I came up with. What do you guys think ???
Or maybe someone has a better idea for the layout.

Any C&C or other idea's are appreciated.

Oh yeah, I will be giving this guy a new name, He does not scream Rodimus
to me anymore. Any idea's on that would be good too.

    Thanks guys
    NP

First off I like the first pic with the black stripes going down. As for a name the only thing thats popping in my head is Thunderclap not thundercracker. I know it sounds more like a seeker's name but its the only name came up with. If I had so more info then will be getting something different.

I'm leaning more to the first set of stripes, I'm still unsure.

I wouldn't call him a partner more a Arch Nemesis (if you will pardon the pun) Wicked WJ is a con, This guy will stay Bot.
There is a little more to this bash then I am sharing for now.
I have settled on a name for him, Overload.

I also like that third one or is it the fourth oh well with even more black lines and Overload is a cool name for him. Does it seem kinda familiar that we had to vote for some stripes for a custom I think it was Wheeljack from Frenzy Rumble.

I think if you are to do a head swap, you should paint the head as well as the Mustang. If you don't, I think it will read like "Grimlock with a Rodimus head" sorta thing.

Also, it may be tough (and I see some Mustang heritage in your stripe design), but I'd recommend doing a Google search on actual Mustang striping. :thumb

I can't wait to see what you do with this man! :)

Yep your right. This will be my third set of Stripes I've done, I've noticed that with multi-layered stripes you need an outside POV & my wife is like "whatever" :lol

I think I'll do some painting on the head, but not the body.
I really like the silver & hopefully with what else I add to the bash it won't read as Rodi's head on Grimmy's body

Nemesis Predaking- So its like clockwork when it comes to stripes for ya. Thats understandable. That was funny how your wife says "whatever" when youtold her that you needed an outside pov to do stripes I guess, but hey we deal with it. Well I hope you figure out what stripes to use and start working on the custom soon.

I had an idea for this kind of thing as well using the Wheeljack Body (Minus blue stripes) with a Black painted rodimus head (A repro atleast) with a visor added it would make a great Omnibot Downshift

But as for yours.... Octaine if it's a Con, this way you could keep the car color as is with just dark grey GT strips and just paint the bot mode parts and helmet purple.

Well guys I totally screwed this one up.
I tried to use that Kyrlon fusion Prism effect clear coat (first time using clear coat), after letting it sit
for a day I peeled the tape off to find a huge freaking mess.
I posted pics of it in the first posting.
Oh well guess Overload is getting a full repaint after all.
I'm make him better this time. Keep an eye out, He will return soon.

When you're painting your stripes, are you using the 'dusting' technique? Ive done quite a few stripes on alts and I've had great results doing it that way. I've had very sharp crisp lines with very little or no dripping or bleeding

I would never clear coat with an adhesive product (tape) still placed on the surface.

"Dusting" Technique ??? I may be. I've never really heard that term before.

Something to keep in mind for next time.
I only wanted the black the have the prism effect that the Krylon Fusion stuff is suppose give.
Ah well, live & learn. We can chalk it up to one more rookie mistake.

guess, I should've explained... when paiting out stripes, hod the spray can 8-10 inches away, then spray a VERY light coat (like a dusting of paint) wait 3-5 min repeat. keep doing that until the stripe is fully colored in. do this with the primer coat too (ALWAYS use a primer coat). it may take longer but you cant argue wuth the results (Ironhide Soundwave.)

Sucks about the paint thing. I was thinking the roddy head painted black and bulky body could be good for either Sludge or Snarl

I do that with all my painting more or less. No Primer though. No need with Kyrlon Fusion, just adds more layers (imo)

You know what, If I had not come up with my idea for Overload already. I'd be all over that.
That's is a fantastic idea I'd love to see somebody run with it.
