Spectro, Viewfinder, and Spyglass are Reflector -- made from three Real Gear Spyshot 6 figures. Original images found here :
Spy Shot 6 - Teletraan I: the Transformers Wiki - Transformers 2, Revenge of The Fallen, Animated, Toys

I wanted to learn how to use photoshop, and I plan to make this for real, so here is my first digibash ever.
And since I've been buying some painting supplies, and supplies to cast these heads off some oversized KOs I have, I'll also say this is a kitbash work in progress.
I moved here to Taiwan about a month and a half ago, and as soon as my boxes arrive (shipped all my TFs by slow boat), I'll be able to do this up for real.

I've included some reference pics I used. I tried for a cartoon character feel with influences from the way the toys looked.
Please feel free to give any and all opinions on this. Your feedback will help me make changes for when it comes time to make this for real. Thanks.

I've been thinking of making a Reflector out of Spy Shot as well, and let me just say: Good luck finding another head that will fit the tiny, tiny balljoint that is his neck =P Unless you plan to just sculpt a new one on top of the old, in which case I look forward to seeing the finished product!

I actually don't have the toy with me (it's in a freight ship somewhere on the Pacific), but I was thinking of attaching with magnets. And having some pieces overlapping (probably from Spectro's and Spyglasses' cut off lenses) to keep them aligned.

I was planning to cast new heads from an oversized KO Reflector I have. I don't have the toy in front of me right now, but why wouldn't it work to just cut the head off, leaving the ball joint, and glue the new heads onto the posts? Do me a favor and take a look at yours and tell me if that'll work.
Also, I was thinking even if it's not on a ball joint, but can still turn, that'll be ok.

What do you all think of the coloring choices and the chest designs? They are still subject to change. This is the best place to get expert TF advice on such things.

You've certainly got more leeway if you're okay with just having a rotating neck, the only thing you've got to watch out for is that the heads still fit in the hollow bit of his left shoulder (with the "flash").

The colouring and everything look great, although you may want to put a slight bit more variation on the chests of the two who don't have the lens. Maybe look at a cross-section of a camera for ideas? =)

why use magnets when you can just fill the hole with putty and then drill out a smaller hole to fit the smaller balljoint?

Good idea on looking at some cross-sections. The internal mechanisms of a real camera may be able to be worked into a chest design. And I'll watch out that the heads are not too 'fat'.

I was going to use magnets to hold the 3 cameras together. And possibly glue the new heads onto the ball jointed neck post. I'll cast them solid on the bottom. But that's a good method you have if I decide to use some other heads that happen to have a hole that is too big.

dude go for magnets, i agree with you!! using a the "burr" bit on a dremel, you can make a hole that's slightly smaller than the magnet. carefully make it bigger with TEENSY tiny adjustments. then i use a magnet wand (i got it for $2 at Pep Boys, it's essentially a telescoping antenna with a grip and a magnetic knob a the end... awesome for picking up dropped screws and such).

i stick the magnet on the magnet wand, and cram the magnet in the hole. friction keeps it there. just make sure that once you put the first ones in, you put the second ones in on the side that lets them connect, not repel. use a metal tool, and not the magnet wand, because i'm pretty sure the magnet wand only holds on to the magnets on one side.

Yeah, sorry dudes. This one has been held up for quite some time.

I've since moved from Taiwan, back to Vancouver, and then moved again back to P.E.I. That's a lot of moving, and a lot of time with my stuff in boxes.

As it is, I've been trying to get painting supplies on the go for about a year now. Still don't have any. And my stuff is still in boxes in Taiwan, waiting for me to decide when I'm leaving P.E.I. again to know when to ship.

I even have a couple of Spyshots and a Photon (the black repaint). I'd like to get my hands on another Spyshot though, to keep my Photon intact. This project shouldn't be too hard to pull off after I get settled again, and get some paint supplies on the go.
