We've all seen a thousand different ideas floating around for repainting everybody's favorite mighty-mini-semi tractor from Cybertron, but today someone planted a seed in my head that just won't leave me alone. At all. So I had to try something kooky out digitally because I just can't get at my airbrush tonight. I didn't complete it, just did enough to see if the concept was worth developing.

    What do you think?

I'd probably add some red to the chest as well on the "real" one. But the odd thing is, as soon as I saw red on that head, it just screamed Ironhide to me, yet before today I never saw it at all.

Even stranger, just today I ordered out two trailers thanks to that "other" thread that are the right size, slightly different from one another, but one could easily be a battle platform, and the other could just as easily be a repair bay. . . *hint*hint*

I think I may have to dig out the airbrush soon.

    What's everyone else think?

Looks nice, but I'd prefer him orange as Huffer. (since I see the blue one as Pipes)

That head has always looked like Ironhide, to me. I like seeing that other people have similar ideas. Some one has already repainted an Armorhide into Ironhide. He put yellow stripes, on the side.

Digibash looks good. Can't wait to see the real repaint.

Thats a great idea, I always thought the head looked like Ironhide as well. Though I do see the Huffer homage as well.

I think the concept works well. I always got the impression that Armourhide was a little gun-ho kickass little guy, so bashing him into Ironhide sounds like a great idea.

Thanks to King Starscream for providing the line drawing and allowing me to use it for this, here's a rough-up of colors for Ironhide.

I'm probably going to go ahead and do this as soon as I find myself another Armorhide.

That drawing would have sold me on the toy. Any chance of getting it recolored as huffer? I'd love to see the little guy get some love.

Sure. I keep my flats on a separate layer so color swaps are pretty simple, and a minor tweak for better homage goodness:

That actually looks better than I thought it would, but still not sure I'd actually repaint one that color.

Nice. A slightly different spin on the concept from where I'm headed, but pretty cool.

Though I gotta say, the guy arguing that Ironhide can't be anything but a van gets under my skin. One of my pet peeves is people who think a character is made up entirely of an alt-mode. These were creatures that were rebuilt every time they went to a new world into entirely new alt-modes. How could they NOT change?

Looks like he's using the technique where you paint a base-coat of some kind of silver, than use a translucent or "candy" red over the top. Gives a real nice effect.

This should make for a good ironhide.

    Keep up the good work.

    Hope to see finished project

Made some quick shadow corrections that were bugging the crap out of me on the above pictures, and as a thank you to King Starscream who allowed me use of his lines, and lines that were extremely easy to make look good in color, did this:

Now I unfortunately have about three weeks of work to do to get my workshop ready for me to start my repaints, so this thread will probably crop back up then.
